I taught aerial inverts, Leg Hangs, Switches and other simple transitions on the Spinning Pole the other day. I reminded myself how beautiful simple leg hangs can be, when I slow down and explore the movement better.
The beginning is more or less what I taught in class. The rest is a freestyle. I'm quite happy that I'm slowly starting to move free in the air, and not only on the floor.

Absolute perfection!! Over time, will I get used to spinning or is dizziness just a normal part of it and you just have to accept it?

@ThePoleDancer
@ThePoleDancer 3 жыл бұрын
You usually start learning on the static pole, so don’t worry about the spinning pole. Depends on how easily you get dizzy (worst case motion sick). That’s very individual. Usually with practice the body builds tolerance to the spin

Oh my goodness you mesmerize me. I am very new to all these moves... There is a lot to remember. I am constantly on pinterest trying to remember the names of everything. But one move at a time, right? I just learned carousel to gemini to descending angel.... Week 1. You inspire me so much. I love how free-flowing you are. I was googling more leg switch variations and you popped up on top. :) It will be quite some time before I master the handsfree switch, let alone everything else. I am determined though.

Girl, with the speed that you're learning... I don't think that it will take that long. It's really amazing how much you're able to figure out by yourself. Do you use any tutorials? Usually I recommend taking a few pole classes to learn the correct technique of pole fundamentals - arm grips, contact points and muscle engagement. Then it gets much easier to learn alone. Also, usually inverted tricks are not the first moves that beginners learn. But you're quite an unusual girl too. lol I admire your progress and dedication. Anyways, listen to your body, don't overtrain same muscle groups and take rest days.

Yes I watch a lot of tutorials before beginning. I like the tutorials that focus on the 'things NOT to do' and the little details on technique. It's definitely all the little things that really make a difference if you're 80% there.

tips for keeping the momentum going?
@ThePoleDancer
@ThePoleDancer 6 жыл бұрын
Great question, Jacquie. Sometimes it’s simply pole’s fault. The poles from my videos - in the school I'm teaching at, spin very fast and are more „loose“. They barely loose momentum. But my X-Pole at home got more tight through the years (need to install it again) and stops spinning very often. Other than that, I think that the smoothness and dynamics of your movements are a big influence. When you’re not following the circular momentum of the spin, let’s say through cutting moves short or reaching across, you’re creating a friction. Depending on the pole, it could be hard to make it spin again. Try creating a circular momentum again, for example through swinging with your leg sideways. Not directly front, back or up but sideways in a spin motion. Also pulling out on the pole keeps the spin smoother and prevents deceleration through the gravity, which is pulling down.
