I am not a gun nerd, but it's nice to see how those guys enjoy their find. And thanks for taking care of the German guns feeling! ;-) Let me return the favour: The dedication in the book is written in the old German script and translates as: In loving memory from your sister Lotte (Zur liebenden Erinnerung von deiner Schwester Lotte)

Just a little side fact if anybody else wondered what the inscription in the mein kampf book at 8:43 was about: It says in German „Zur Beeinerung an deine Schwester Lotte“ which translates to something like „In memory of your sister Lotte“. This old font is called „Kurrentschrift“ and is really hard to decipher, even for me as a German. So correct me for any mistakes in the translation if you now better!

My grandmother did that with my grandfather's stuff from being a NY police officer and detective. My aunt was so pissed and told them they needed to give it all back. They made her go through 6 months of classes and permits/licensing (NY) and then they would only give back 3 pistols. They said everything else was illegal and they were to be destroyed aka they kept it all for themselves. That's the one thing my grandmother did that pissed me off, but she was older and mourning so she wasn't thinking straight.

In 55' after having it for almost 20 years, *he was an officer from 42-46 in the Pacific*, my grandfather turned his Navy issued 1911 over to Cleveland police. Nobody knows why. Conscience perhaps because they weren't supposed to take them home. Of course, I am sure an officer took it immediately for safe keeping.

We dad that with my grandpa's collection as we laid them out my uncle cleared everyone and then we went through writing down serial numbers and marking each one with tape, value and name of family member grandpa had it going to. Many years ago I had a neighbor in his 80s who had been an infantryman and had pretty muck walked from to the coast of France to Austria in WWII. His unit came across a warehouse and of course broke in. They found cases of P-38s and helped themselves. He took a dozen boxed pistols and over the next few weeks tossed them one at a time on the side of the road as they became heavier and heavier.

If they get a warrant then the safe company will provide them the code, they don't have "all the codes" you misinformed gullible dolt. BTW, the FBI & ATF keeps us safe, so stop bashing them. They have stopped and prevented hundreds if not thousands of bad things from happening to people and to this country every year. The FBI also saves a lot of lives every year and arrests a lot of very bad people. They don't always advertise their accomplishments. They're heroes. They just recently arrested a crazed individual who threatened the life of a Republican Congress woman and her family. The funny thing is, this Republican Congresswoman called for the "defunding" of the FBI, but now she's taking them. You should stop spreading misinformation because it's contagious and dumb people are prone to getting sick from it.

I know your channel is geared towards the 20th century military firearms, but I so would have loved to see more on the Colt Peacemaker's he had in his collection. Astonishing collection. I would have liked to hear more about who this collector was as well. I have no doubt he would have been a fascinating guy to talk to when he was alive.

Yeah but that was someone's collection before. Who knew what sort of collector they were or if they wanted others to see it. But now they are dead and others are going to use it a lot more than that guy ever did. If anything is learned here it's that you should enjoy your life and the things you have because one day you'll die, and all your things in this world will be up for auction like this guy's stuff.

My interest is the SAA Colts, I noticed instantly what's referred to the black powder frame guns, with the screw for the cylinder pin in front of the frame instead of spring-loaded cross pin. I've always wanted one, but they are out of my price range. It is an incredible find and incredible piece of history.

It's sad for us average guys income wise that really good quality Lugers have become very expensive! Back in the 90's you could buy a really nice Luger with holster for maybe a grand. Now that probably wouldn't put you on the Layaway plan with a good Gunbroker dealer! Back in the 90's I bought several really nice Lugers but had to sell them when I had a layoff from my job in 2008. It was a sad day when I let them go!
