@@toddchapman9038bingo. He can have sponsored videos, but just space them out a little and give it a format other than the literal testing. He’s already done this boot, so just interview the people and let them tell the story. Or give some away on another video. But you have to be so clear that you aren’t putting out puff pieces, beyond just saying it. Then people also worry about the brand relationship affecting the top 5 videos and such.

This was a great promotional sales pitch video for Origin....bravo, and unlike nearly every one of your other reviews, there is a deliberate evasion of mentioning the cost. Basically, "take one for the team" and buy Amerikan, even if it costs more for less! I've had a pair of these boots on my bench and from my cynical view, they are deliberately constructed in a manner in which a resole is going to be a PITA, which equals $$$. Since there isn't a genuine midsole--the "midsole" is actually the footbed--replacing the outsole requires prepping the footbed to accept the new outsole, typically by sanding, which must be done without damaging the blake stitches. Furthermore, in order to properly re-sew the stitchdown area--in a manner which won't create new holes in the upper--that area must be hand-stitched. Even one of the greatest master cobblers on KZfaq wasn't able to hit all of the holes on a Danner rebuild, and as you are aware, without a Goodyear welt to be replaced, those holes become a permanent Achillies heel in the upper. So a new re-sole requires part of the work on a McKay, and the balance must be hand-sewn. For a $330 boot, a $225-$250 re-sole is approaching that point that most customers will opt for buying a new boot. Well-played, Origin, well-played. Incidentally, there's no mention of a factory rebuild option, either. Aside from the rhetorical blather about buying in the US, these boots need at least need a midsole and a shank. Try climbing a ladder or standing on a pair of leg spikes without a shank and you'll discover immediately why a shank is needed; that shouldn't even have been an issue.

The cost is on their website and he said it was a $250 boot constructed somewhere else so anyone with half a brain can tell there’s a 50% premium buying an American made boot. Not rocket science. And 90% of the people wearing these aren’t getting them for hard use work boots and climbing ladders all day. If buying something made in the US and keeping ur money here is just “rhetorical blather” to you then just don’t buy them. But again there are tons of people here that prefer buying stuff made here and are willing to pay extra for it so u just kinda sound like an America hater or something trying to dis people that like supporting American companies.

I agree the jeans are nice, but they need to make sizes down to 28" waist. The stretch material makes these too big for me and I can't send them back since I tried to see if they would shrink with washing and drying. They didn't. For now they are my winter jeans when I need to wear a layer under. The boots are nice but agree with the changes that could be made. I also don't like the blake stitch in the back. It looks like too much water and snow could get in there. The new gusseted tongue was uncomfortable for my foot because of the thick leather used. Other boots companies use different methods and materials to help with that fold. I appreciate what they are doing though and hope they continue. For now I have been looking at the JK 300 line of boots.

I bought a pair of boots from origin and had nothing but issues with them. The boots they sent me had the heel falling off, right out of the box and the composite toes on the left boots was really crooked. They told me since they were handmade they may have some cosmetic issues. I sent them an email and waited almost a month for a response. They sent me another pair of boots that had the same exact issue. I had them give me a refund. I hope that anyone who buys anything from them has better luck than I did. They made the claim handmade meant they might look or be built like shit.

Yea same deal wasn’t impressed with the quality at all especially for $300+…. Returned and got red wings instead. This boot is not worth anywhere near the asking price. P.S I live near red wing mn and the heritage line of boots is still made here in red wing😀. As much as I love buying Made in USA, I just can't get behind these. To start, I think they are really ugly. More importantly though, these are nearly completely synthetic. I just don't see the upside. There are so many options from other companies that have a high "Made in USA" percentage of components. Thursday has a made in USA collection for far less money than these, or anything from White's, Nick's, or JK. You also have brands like Truman Boot Co. And Oak Street Bootmakers. There's too much competition to justify the $330 price with nearly all synthetic materials.

I love wearing them despite the leather still being stiff and needing more break in. As well I've never had a pair that not only felr as cool as they do but when looking down at them they are to me some of the most aesthetically pleasing. I've only.had mine for about 2 weeks and I think they are totally worth it. Especially if you get a black Friday season sale :) I will say living in Germany I got royally 'efft' when I had to pay their government import tax if 155.50 euros. That's on top of the 48 dollars I had to pay for shipping and handling. The import tax was calculated after the boots were processed in customs. Otherwise I would have waited to buy them or just stuck with my Thursday Diplomats. I m happy at least that the purchase price of the boots and the awesome jeans I also bought from Origin went to supporting true American made and sourced product and workers. God Bless the USA! You need to look up the FTC regulations for " MADE IN USA " claims. A certain high percentage of the materials have to be domestic and that transformation from materials into the product ( boots in this case ) has to be done here. This means the upper pretty much has to be domestic leather and it has to be transformed into a boot upper here in the USA. You can't say it's MADE IN USA if the upper is sewn together in a foreign country.

Not US, but UK. I don't need convincing, but Altberg boots, especially the military ones are the best I have ever had, and a lot less expensive than many on here, so I feel you'd be impressed if you ever got your hands on a pair.

I have their work jeans, tee’s, and sweat shirts. I basically live in their work jeans. Their tops are great too. I waited until Black Friday to order their 8inch work boot. I have not received them yet. So the jury is still out. Can’t wait to work in them.

About manufacturing in the USA. The NPR program The Color Money did an article a few years ago tracking the complete production process of t-shirt for their show. They started with the cotton grower in the south Mississippi or Louisiana. Because there no mills in the US, the raw cotton then went to Pakistan (I think) then the fabric went to Colombia. I cannot recall if that was to be dyed or cut. But only then did it come back to the US to be finished. We have lost a lot of our manufacturing capabilities and need to bring them back. I understand globalization, but there is something to be said for being able to be self sufficient.

Origin has a youtube channel where they walk through the whole production line. I know they make their Gi fabric in house and I think they might do their t-shirts as well. They source their denim from a mill in georgia.

Hi there, thanks for your reviews we can make a purchase with confidence, since Iam not going to be cutting my boots to get a new one. there is a Canadian brand called Oliberte that used to make boots in Africa and they shifted production to Canada instead. it would be awesome to get some boots under the knife.

I have a pair of their Built boots. Kind of underwhelmed for a $400 pair of boots. The sole delaminated in about 3 weeks, the midsole squeaks against the leather, the laces aren’t long enough to use every eyelet, and they absolutely need another pair of lower speed hooks.

The algorithm recommended your videos/channel to me. It's great stuff. I'm not a big boot wearer but love the way you break things down in all your videos. If you love USA made clothing, check out Duckworth, which is the ONLY 100% American merino wool company. From the sheep raised in Montana to the cutting, dyeing and finishing mills in the USA. I've got several of their stuff and it's amazing. I don't work for them, just a proud supporter. It's also not cheap..but it's priced the same or a very little more than what foreign made competitors charge.

A year or so ago I decided to put my money where my mouth was and pony up for some origin coronados. They actually have factory seconds you can buy on their "factory outlet" for a fair bit cheaper than normal; I think I got mine for 200 or 250 at the time. All in all, I think they're fine. I got the mini lug so i don't notice the lack of a shank and the model I recieved actually has screws in the front of the sole near the toes. For being factory seconds I can't see much wrong with them at all. They're certainly not work boots meant to kicked around on an oil derrick or anything but I didn't buy them for that. I bought them to support US manufacturing and to buy something that would conform to my foot better than some of the ten-inches-of-leather boots people buy. I actually had a friend who bought iron rangers and always complains that they feel like wood under his feet even a few years on so I guess it all comes down to different strokes for different folks. They work for me as a casual to light use boot -- I'm sure their built boots are more serious -- and I've grown to like their looks. I'm sure the company has it's issues and the video was a bit more of an advertisement than I expected from this channel but the negative nancies in the comments section are disheartening. True to a fair extent but disheartening all the same, especially the political BS.

My Origin boots are a little over a year old and I love them. I wear them everywhere except for work. I need steel toes for my work boots. The boots are holding up well and I will likely purchase another pair sometime in the future but I don't really expect to need a new pair anytime soon. I'm close to fully retiring and I'm not as rough on my boots at this age. I need a wide boot with a roomy toe box due to hardware holding my right foot together and I was apprehensive ordering online but I used their size chart and the boots arrived a perfect fit.

I know you can't buy them now but my Danner Combat Hikers were Berry compliant and as far as i know that means they're pretty damn made in USA. They've been GREAT boots for me for like 15+ years. Only real downside is they're not resoleable and are about worn out now so idk what I'll get next. I'll never beat the deal I got on these... $50 from danner directly back in the day when they had back room online deals. I know the combat hikers got shit online but for me in the rocky woodland terrain I hike and camp they were ideal. Heavy, but ideal and obviously held up better than i ever thought.

Have been wearing my Origin Boots for close to 3 years now. Finally getting to resole time.
