@@DivineLoveconciousness last year for the first time they'd kept this link open all year. In the past, you could pull your child out of school at any point and say you are homeschooling, and then fill out the PSA in October when the link became available. I assume it's the same now, but your school may still give you a hard time. If they do, tell them the PSA form is unavailable until October. Ask them to provide you with whatever law that says you cannot pull your child out of school to homeschool unless you fill out a PSA that is not currently available. If they continue to give you a hard time, join HSLDA. This is a subscription lawyer service that specializes in homeschool law. They will take care of any problems very quickly. I believe California homeschool Network also has a similar lawyer service.

Well, it's unlikely that you would ever get in trouble, but if you ever have a nosy neighbor or an opinionated relative who turns you in, you could get in trouble.

I doubt for shots no one I know is doing them in homeschooling we keep attendance records and medical records but we stopped all shots

I believe you can. When you fill out a PSA you are essentially creating a little private school. Later on your child will be "enrolled." They don't actually ask for your child's name when you fill out the psa.

I don't think they require vaccinations right now, but in California that seems to be something you need to re-evaluate on a weekly basis.

You're welcome :-) if you live in California the information you received from the school is not correct. you do not have to provide proof of a curriculum to your child's old school.

Also, whenever a school tells you something that you suspect might be incorrect, ask them to provide the specific law they are referring to that gives them the authority to do whatever it is they are trying to do. that way if they are correct, you can look the law up yourself. But if they are not correct, they will usually back off.

You should be able to. I have had several friends do this many times in the past. This year however, I have had several people reach out to me because they're local school district is giving them a hard time for doing this. The thing is, schools absolutely cannot hold your kids hostage. What I recommend is to provide a screenshot of the page showing that the PSA filing is closed until October 1st. if they continue to give you a hard time, I would ask that they show you what law gives them the authority do not allow you to pull your child outout of school and homeschool them even though the state has closed the PSA filing.

Hello is it possible for them not to accept the withdrawing if you can’t file the PSA? Me and my wife are trying this and school is starting today, we sent the letter but we don’t have the PSA until October also.

@@edwinzaragoza9606 as far as I can tell there is no law that enables them to do this, but I do know that several schools are telling parents that they cannot pull their kids out of school without a PSA, even though the PSA is not currently available as it was last year. I would start by asking the school to provide the law giving them the power to hold your kid hostage, and if they still push back, I would join hslda for legal assistance.

You don't have to do kinder in Cali, so you don't have to file a psp unless your child is six by September first.

It depends on what you want the diploma for. For a job, you can issue a diploma. For colleges, you'll want to reach out and see what their requirements are. Most people don't do GEDs.

Yes. if you are trying to get services from the school district, that may be a different story. But as far as the legal way to homeschool in california, the information applies for all students.
