Not a remake, just a remaster that fixes translation errors and, cleans up the graphics and the voice acting from the cinematics.
@Sextus706 жыл бұрын
+Fabio Lacap The script is definitely something that needs to be fixed in a new official or fan made edition of the game. The constant 3rd person talk and awkward constructions in dialogue (signs of what was likely a half assed literal translation from the Japanese script) sometimes can be quite off puting.

This was always my favorite song in this game when I was little. Whenever me and my sister and mother would sit down to continue the game on the weekends, my mom would always say "Uh oh, boss battle!", and me and my sister would always fight over the controller, arguing who's better at completing the additions. This theme feels so alien, so "out of this world", it fits perfectly with the Virage. Before anyone says anything, I know the Virage were not aliens but living weapons, it's just that they do look truly otherworldly compared to other creatures in the game.

@yeetuspogimus20235 жыл бұрын
Amen, I'm playing it for the first time ever on my PS2 Slim. I found it among my older brother's other PS1 games that I have played and was surprised I never saw it before in around 20 years. It's great so far, I just finished the Dragon Shrine area and oh boy, did Drake and Shirley throw me out of my comfort zone. I'm playing this game as blind as possible (Though in the process of figuring out how to get cutscenes to work on the disc I did end up seeing some spoilers, but nothing too spoiling.) It honestly feels good to play a PS1 game in 2019 that I actually didn't play before. It's a breath of fresh air from all the PTW mobile games and other crap going on and every place and battle in the game is a new experience. Not to mention I was missing the feeling of playing old school rpg's so all the more reason to play. The music, by the way, is amazing (especially the battle theme in this video), it's thematic, appropriate to the situation, the menu theme is chill and town themes are nice and pleasant to listen to. The amount of artwork and detail in the towns and battle scenes is astonishing for a PS1 game (Though the overworld map screen isn't too visually appealing, it's at least acceptable.) You can tell a lot of care and effort was put into the making of this game. Battles aren't too easy at first and require you to think about your actions before carrying them out; and boss battles get your blood going without being too hard, additions provide a means of practicing your timing while also grinding monsters (though I was not prepared when battling Drake, I made mistakes due to forgetting the cursor memory and wasted a turn meanwhile bombs were rolling toward the party,(mind you I chose not to go dragoon against him which in hindsight I probably should have done.) I had to use one Healing Breeze fighting him and for some reason when Shirley initiated a "battle" I panicked and used another Healing Breeze but then realized she's only testing Dart and Lavitz's resolve to cure Shana of Dragon Poisoning. I had a very human moment with these two and that may have been intentional.) It's an overall great JRPG even after only playing the beginning parts of the game, a lot actually goes on and it does a great job of keeping you hooked without losing interest. So I'm looking forward to playing the rest of the game. :D

Christopher Rozanski I plan to download this again in phone and play with emulator..😆
@yeetuspogimus20235 жыл бұрын
Kyn Suoh Well I hope you don’t run into issues with bosses because I think on emulator if you go dragoon at all the game will lock itself and you’ll have to change emulator settings to continue playing, and save states have to be done a certain way and the in game save system in the emulator can also lock the game from what I read on forums. Those issues dont seem to happen on disc though. Not to discourage you from playing but this is one of those games you may run into problems with on an emulator.
@einzelfeuer_28553 жыл бұрын
@@yeetuspogimus2023 Yes. I've been buying old games I never got to finish or play when I was younger and tbh I'm actually enjoying gaming again because of it. Way too many modern games just aren't as well crafted as fun experiences. They may look more realistic and have more detail and features but a lot simply lack charm and feel more like tedious timesinks than well crafted fun game experiences. There are exceptions of course but at this point I think the people who say old games are better are totally right generally speaking.
@yeetuspogimus20233 жыл бұрын
Einzelfeuer _ Yeah, I will admit that during the PS3 years me and my brother were obsessed with FPS games and all that junk, but thats when the new generation hype was still strong and super good looking action/shooter games were getting crapped out at a yearly basis, but I never forgot those old classics like FF 7/8, Legend of Legaia, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and LoK: Soul Reaver that had me either enthralled or just enjoyed the general experience. Legend of Dragoon is one of those games I would’ve wanted to grow up with, but tbh; I would’ve raged hard at certain points and probably get it taken away from me because I was very prone to crying in frustration as a kid xD Legend of Dragoon is definitely a more big boy/girl JRPG among JRPG’s of its time. (Biggest of all being FF7 imo just because of the plot and Emerald/Ruby Weapons both of which I have never defeated because I didn’t know there were items that boost your stats dramatically but nerf your HP. Even the 2 materia only trick didn’t help against Emerald Weapon too much because it has 1 Million HP and while you do attack many times dealing 7777 damage, its still not enough.) A lot of games made now owe a huge debt to these older games that set the foundation for them, though a good few modern titles are good enough in their own right to stand the test of time. Even the PS/XBox games owe a debt to the NES/SEGA era. (I wasnt born in those days, but I watch enough game reviewers from those days who still talk about this stuff on yt to know that at least.) Another series I wished I grew up with would be Breath of Fire series, Tales of series, GRANDIA (1st one actually on steam now remastered, doesnt look quite the same but still the same game) and maybe Fire Emblem. I am very much a JRPG person but not so much a SRPG person. At the very least I got to vicariously experience those games by watching other gamer’s walkthroughs back in high school.

I'm necrocommenting, but I totally agree with you. I think the video game music is sort of a sub-industry and stands somewhat on its own, especially in Japan but in the States more too as of the last 1.5 decades or so. The idea of having to program in assembly as a part of the music-writing process for the NES... yet that is one system that had some really brilliant music. You have people like Yuzo Koshiro, too, who haven't just made music for games but have experimented with furthering the human-music connection in general. Plus he's a damn good composer, but yeah.

Yo I watched my sister play LotD and all the Spyro games on the PS1 growing up
Even in this day and age, Legend of Dragoon is still a damn fantastic game. The voice acting wasn't the best, and the overall look of the game wasn't the best either, but when you take into consideration the timeframe it originated from, this is a game that has overall aged well. Despite the weird voice acting and the now out-of-date graphical design, the story is one that most games today can't compare to, and the gameplay was solid on just about every front.

actually there were several optional bosses, the super virage in the forbidden valley of the winglies (dragon block staff location) The skeleton warrior in Imperial Gloriano, Faust, The majority of the first dragoons, the dragon spirits in Mayfil. Sure you could argue that it needed more, but not really necessary. It wasn't a completely linear game. I mean the birds and the ooparts to gain exp and gold in earlier parts of the game were a bitch to fight...(sachet was a godsend) but i beat a few without the cheese. I mean getting the ultimate armor in the game was by no means a picnic. The graphics actually were a lot smoother than some games. It reminded me a more polished version of FF8. Say what you want LoD had no dry spots unlike the atrocious battle between gardens. Run here and there and fight enemies in between....ugh. But i digress ,i plan on going to school precisely for game design and plan on making an LoD that commemorates the anniversary of one of the best games of my childhood. Then i plan on making the Dragon War Prequel, followed by two. Yes it was good by itself...but then i got an idea...Winglies were truly a masterful race as they created the virage...also creatures created by Soa. So...what if Soa was a wingly and he had an art that allowed him to recreate himself in the body of a human, because? what better way to arise than from the body of a slave ensuring your race didn't go instinct. I plan on having a rogue wingly trying to find the tome that has the art in it , to ensure their revival and that of their almighty "God." Also it makes for a conventional plot twist that their god was mortal. That and it ties in with Melbu's plot from the first LoD with using Shana as the Virage Embryo host, but it was incomplete as he had shoved her out at the last moment. Making said ritual incomplete.

This was the theme chosen for Shadow Lugia & Shadow Ho-oh encounters in Alpha Sapphire Extreme Randomizer, which was played by a famous Poketuber. Shadow Pokemon were a feature from Pokemon XD & Colosseum that many fans have waited for a long time to return. Hence the pokefans flocking to listen to this song. That being said, I don't understand why the hack used this instead of the Shadow Lugia theme from XD.

Emperor Doel fight. Everyone had been wiped out except for Dart. I didn’t have anymore revives left so I couldn’t bring anybody back. For another half hour it was Dart and Doel trading blows back and forth. I held on as long as I could with a combo of defense and what little potions I had left until Doel beat me. I remember putting the controller down and not being mad but just taken a back. That’s a memory of this game I will never forget.

I remember being able to do Dart's additions of Madness Hero and Crush Dance and eventually Blazing Dynamo while not even looking at the screen. Could legitimately look away and hold a second or two of conversation and still get through those even when countered.

It was all about the timing of the hits. As long as you knew it you could do the first hit and just time the rest. with 1-2 hours of practice you could land most if not all the combos. Was a fun system for sure.

When ever I hear this song, I imagine someone saying. Here I stand, I have no plans to run. Come at me with everything you have learned, with such a strong will to win, so that I may take the pleasure or crushing it. You will be dust soon, and forgotten just as easily as it turns from day to night. Powerful music!

I was just thinking about this game and this is the song that came to mind. I had no idea how to even search for it so I searched "legend of the dragoon battle theme" and clicked randomly and it was the first video I loaded up.
