That Grog drop from the sky was one of the most badass NAT20 moment of Critical Role History. Shit was, in the words of Liam O'brien, "POETIC JUSTICE!!!"

GROG WAS AT 1 HIT POINT *gasp* WHEN HE POPPED OUT OF THE... hahhh... THE PENDENT!!!

In the live-stream, Percy lost his memories of being in the Fey Wild, and Scanlan cast False Memories with the typical Scanlan details, then either Greater or Lesser Restoration to return his actual memories. Grog is a Berserker Barbarian, which means that he gets an extra attack every turn (demonstrated by Grog being more dexterous than his uncle), while Kevdak is a Totem Warrior Barbarian with the Bear Totem, which means that he takes half damage from everything but psychic damage. If you listen to the song Scanlan sings during the fight, it's Travis Willingham chanting 'rage'. Travis went to a glee school, and though he was part of the football team he learned singing, acting, and musical theory. Matt Mercer explained in the Campaign 1 Wrap-up that if anyone but Grog had killed Kevdak, the Herd of Storms wouldn't have stopped fighting.

I wasn't sure if they were gonna actually go all out with the "I'm daddy?" scene, but as soon as they started up the stairs I turned into the Michael Scott "No! No! Noooooooo!" meme.

The pendant drop was by FAR my most hoped for and anticipated moment to see animated. In stream it was fucking unbelievable

Those spiked barriers are formally called an abatis, abattis, or abbattis, a type of simple fortification made up of sharpened trees or logs jutting out of the rest of the wall or barrier.

So fun fact about the original backstory for Scanlan. It was a complete rip off of Eminem's lifestory. In the game Scanlan was discovered by Dr. Dransel *cough* Dr. Dre *cough* and toured with him. They changed that for the animated series but Kailey traveling with Dransel stayed the same and her revealing she's Scanlan's daughter was an unexpected swerve Matt threw in as the DM. The fact Eminem's 1st daughter's name is Hailie may have some infulence on the name.

😂 Nah, Kevdak got bigger but only by a couple feet. A full giant is roughly 20 feet. A half-giant like Grog or Kevdak is like 7 or 8 (and roughly 8-10 feet tall with the power of the Gauntlets). And that kill is exactly how it happened in the stream.

Kevdak early in the episode: "History won't remember a blood smear on anyone's axe" Oh the irony.

The thing about weight classes is that those are for duels, Duels are generally between people of equal standing or weight. What Grog was doing was Fighting, in fights there are few rules and if you are weaker than your opponent most times you lose.
