Rollers! It's time to plug into Legendary Encounters: The Matrix created by Ben Cichoski and Danny Mandel with art by Skyosan, Tazio Bettin, Tony Foti, Mark Graham, Critina Leon, Matteo Meloni, Johnny Morrow, Evgeny Yurich, Krista Timberlake, Julio Elizondo and published by Upper Deck Entertainment. In this video I'll take you through the steps of setup, win/loss conditions and we'll head right into the movie together for a solo play! Stay tuned for more in the near future! ;)

"Legendary® Encounters: The Matrix™ marks the return of our fan-favorite spin on the classic deck building game. Last seen in 2018, the combat-focused nature of Encounters has been paired with several standout sci-fi properties already. It’s only natural that we’d bring the original Matrix trilogy to the table with this one!
Adapting the iconic elements of the series offered plenty of opportunities to expand upon the foundation of Encounters to create a unique flavor of gameplay that’s true to the source. It all starts with the question posed to Thomas Anderson in the original - Will you enter the Matrix?
In Legendary® Encounters: The Matrix, the game is divided into two sections. Everyone’s play area, as well as the bottom row of the playmat where Hero cards are placed from Zion, is the Real World. The upper portion of the playmat, where you’ll deal with Enemies and Operations, is The Matrix.
To suit this dual nature, each player will have two representations within the game - their Avatar card and their Residual Self Image standee. Avatar cards remain in the Real World the entire game and include character specific abilities that can be accessed with the Free Your Mind card each player will start the game with. In turn, your RSI standee reflects the character’s consciousness, and is able to be moved in and out of the Matrix based on player choices and actions."

Remembered owning Legendary Marvel. God that game is tedious then just realize all dbg games are like that but i heard a good things about Alien one. Hopefully this one good

Alien is the best of the bunch and I’m beginning to think this one is in the same camp. Those are the top two for me easily.

I owned LE Aliens and really like the scenario part of these games but the deck building part is kinda boring to me. Does the HQ and deckbuilding feel the same?

I find the initial deck building at the beginning to be slow (during Act 1; which is normal as deck builders take a little bit to get rolling) but once you've built up your recruit points heading into Act 2 things really start to open up and the game is also throwing wrenches at you far more often. I like the changes made to the deck when jumping into Act 2 as it has big time impacts on your strategy. If you enjoyed Aliens, I think you'll enjoy the Matrix.

on the fence with this, I have so much legendary already, I'm not sure I need more. not only interested in the Matrix, but also on the fence to get James Bond

That’s ok! I’m happy it’s not using the movie art as I find that tacky looking. So far I’m good with the art. 😄

@@RollingSoloMovie art generally doesn’t look good overtime, it generally just look “old”, regardless how innovative the movies were at the time. While drawing art will last longer… at least that’s the way I see it, that’s why I’m also fine with drawing art. It’s a game after all, it doesn’t have to look like a movie. My 2¢

I don't have the date but the game is already showing up in the wild. In Canada it's already hit online stores. I believe it was officially released at the timeframe of Gen Con which is how I got my copy but I'm seeing it popping up in FLGS now too. Thanks for watching!

@@RollingSoloI hope they will translate it in French for Canada/France… I’m fine with English, but if I want to play it with friends & family, they only understand French, which is quite tough for a Deckbuilding game you need to read… Worse case scenario, I will buy it and just play solo. We’ll see :)
