I think senna knew he was more of a chance of killing him self then the others. Was he's character to give absolutely everything. And more often then not he was going Faster then anyone else. He knew he wasn't immortal. You only need to look at when someone was seriously hurt how it effected him and it did effect him big time. But like he said. I had to wipe all the negativity from my mind and go out and do it even better then before. I think we can all take inspiration from that. No matter how bad things get we must look forward sometimes it takes a storm to bring out a rainbow

I've never believed that Honda disadvantaged Prost in that his engines were less powerful. In 1989 his engines proved to be more reliable, as he suffered no engine failures where as Senna suffered three engine failures, all three cost Senna victories with Prost inheriting two of them, these engine failures cost Senna the 1989 championship.

it was because the engine had more power, so the unreliability was a byproduct

"Special engines for Ayrton in 1989" Hmm....... That probably explains the huge gaps between Senna and Prost in qualifying rounds that year :l I know Senna was probably the faster driver but I thought it was strange that he was able beat Prost by 1-2 seconds in every qualifying round!!

I don't think so - I saw a documentary where Martin Brundle said that Senna was absolutely manic on pushing the limit - Senna would be all out in 7th gear (lets say) and 90% of the other drivers would be in 6th in the same corner. Martin Brundle - who battled with senna in formula 3 in '83, said Senna was on a complete other level as far as all out speed goes.

He was better at setting up engines, and worked very closely with japanese engineers, was also Osamu Goto friend, and it was easier to hide engine setups from your team mate than chassis setups, an area where Prost was better than Senna who was mostly copying Prost's chassis and aero set ups. Japanese was as hard workers and maniacs as Senna, so they were on the same level that's why japanese and Honda preffered Senna. A Senna fan and still ( but realistic and not a worshiper of human idols )

Don't believe these claims for a second. Prost always loved to put himself in the victim's role, just watch his interviews when he was Mansell's team mate. Shady excuses was - alongside his great skills - one of Prost's trademarks. I am yet to hear anyone - from McLaren car mechanics to engineers, to Honda engineers to Ron Dennis - to say they favored Senna in some way or another. Also, Senna didn't beat Prost by 1-2 seconds in every single qualifying round, what are you talking about? There was Monaco 88 (not 89) in which Senna beat him by 1.4 sec. In the other races, he beat Prost by a few tenths or quarters of a second, which shouldn't be a surprise, since Senna was one of the greatest qualifiers there ever was, managing to put inferior cars such as McLaren 92/93 or Lotus 85/86/87 in pole positions.

No one talks about it....but the true is, Senna crashed on purpose at Prost because he was tired of it... Prost is whining a way too much. He is 4 time champion from era when the competition was very very tight, when all the titles were won with 1 point more than the guy getting second place. And he is alive and well. Yes, he has not been a way too popular because his driving was a bit boring and calculated and he is not magnificent person too. But, still, he is a lucky guy, living legend, man from age of myths. So, be a bit more kind to dead guys and events in the deep past.

I'm...Prost was a crybaby. When he was with Renault..in the early 80's, the was teamed with ANOTHER French Driver at Renault. The French public liked the other driver better, so he grabbed his family and moved to Switzerland. That's the kind of person Prost was was. He could NOT take any sort of Competitive status or criticism.

Both Prost and Senna were truly great drivers but terribly unethical. Senna caused both of those accidents, in the first Prost shot the door was leading it was his right. In the second one, that was a premeditated accident, Senna should have been disqualified as Schumacher. That being said, Prost running to denounce Senna with Belastre after the first accident was an absolute disgrace.

Bullshit. Prost drove into Senna at Suzuka 1989.
@alanfrost75
@alanfrost75 7 жыл бұрын
Prost caused the first accident. It is far more apparent if you see the aerial view. In the aerial view it is clear as day that Prost turned into the corner early when he saw the nose of the McLaren. If you continue the line he took, he would have ended up on the grass before the corner. Now dont get me wrong, I dont put full blame on Prost for the sole reason that he had other instances in the past where Senna was a bit of a bully (and the example where Senna did not keep his promise). So in 89 he retaliated big time, but he went overboard and that led to the incident the following year.
@evodude919

There were multiple instances where Senna made the same move as what Prost made in Suzuka '89 against Schumacher, Mansell , Prost and others. But no F1 driver I'm aware of ever committed such a malicious act as Senna in '90. It was completely irresponsible and extremely dangerous. I rarely see any of his legions of fans ever admit this.

12:58 sign of someone who blew up some fuses, and in no way should be considered a great driver. Deliberately not braking and taking your concurrent out is childish and unforgiveable. The fact it took him a year to finally come clear and say that he indeed did it deliberately says enough.

@evodude919
@evodude919 4 жыл бұрын
Prost got along well with his teammates in general including Lauda, Rosberg and Arnoux. Mansell didn't want to be Prost's teammate again and get humiliated like he did in 1990 when they were teammates at Ferrari. Calling Prost dirty and a cheater is rather ironic considering you are an obvious Senna fanboy. Senna invented dirty F1 driving. Just in this short video you see his masterpiece in Suzuka in 1990. Before you respond with Prost closing the door in '89, I would like to remind you Senna closed the door many times during his career in similar fashion on Prost, Mansell , Piquet and Schumacher. But no one in F1 ever pulled a stunt like your beloved Aryton in Suzuka in '90.

@@evodude919 Mansell did not have a problem being Prosts team mate at Williams. He felt Prost was a political animal and he was certainly better than Mansell when it came to those type of games. Make no mistake in 1990 Ferrari were behind Prost . Mansell was No1 put Prost insisted he would be No 1 in the attempt to be Champions. Mansell was financially recompensed for losing that status. Mansell would have beaten Prost in an active car, no question. It suited his balls out driving style and total commitment. Prost was not a particular fan of the active car. Mansell left Williams because they wanted to renegotiate a contract that they has already agreed upon, nothing to do with any other driver.

Senna - talented driver but lacking any kind of decency. A lot of hinky-minky instead of just beeing fair. Driver skills 95 out if 100 but only 10 / 100 in decency/fairness/sportsmenship. So a very average driver, same like Schuhmacher, who also played dirty. These type of drivers made racing a political drama and helped to decline F1. There were drivers of similar skills, but with a real fairness the people still admire, like Jim Clark and Jacky Stewart. Skills 90/100 and fairness 95/100. That's how we should benchmark. And if somebody might think...No, I am not British.
