Can you imagine " humans" that were born and lived on a different planet (which will most likely result in them appearing MUCH different than we expect) and meeting a society of primitive tribes and robot dinosaurs! Perhaps it was not Far Zenith that lied but Elisabet, in order to ensure that her team believed they were the only hope leading to them working harder. Perhaps Odyssey sent that signal not from earth orbit but from their new planet, so that earth would be ready in hundreds of years when they returned

great video, as always. Bugs me that the game mentioned New Zealand being submerged, which makes no sense. It's part of the Pacific Ring of fire and is fairly mountainous, with a peak of 12 thousand feet. You could melt all the ice on the planet and still not get close to that kind of rise in sea level.

When you think about it. It's pretty likely the Odyssey will play a part in the sequel if they're alive. They left as the end was coming it probably took them decades to get to whatever solar system they were going to. And the time Aloy lives in is almost 1000 years later. Wouldn't be surprising if they show up pretty soon after the events of the first game. Not to mention that odyssey had an alpha build of Apollo so it would be perfect for both of those things to be fleshed out.

After playing Forbidden West, had to look for a video that talked about Far Zenith in Zero Dawn, as I had no recollection of this organization. Thanks!

An alternate theory could be, the ship didn't get destroyed when its high speed drive exploded, but it was thrown some distance from earth, and the damage done at that time, killed the human crew, and or they were in a place that earth was now the closest habitable planet, end result the ship had no option but to return to earth. But had to do so with drives that were damaged, thus the trip took hundreds of years. During that time, possibly as a result of the explosion, Apollo was damaged or corrupted, also possible that the humans able to handle the repairs and maintenance were largely killed by the explosion, so when it returned it sent a signal to zero dawn following a protocol to contact once back in range, the signal was never intended to be harmful, but due to the corruption triggered the awakening of the Gaia sub functions, and everything that resulted from that. To those on earth, it would appear the ship had been destroyed, but due to it now being hundreds of years away from earth, and in possibly the wrong direction, the remaining people of earth were never able to detect that it was intact. By the time anyone might have been able to find it, nobody was left alive who could. If Apollo were corrupted, the it could be as simple as, it tried to download itself into the first network it could find, because it was a true ai then doing so caused the sub functions to gain awareness, and, because it basically was insane, they also became erratic. not unlike what did happen in the game

Could just as easily be explained by Sobeck lying to motivate the crew of Zero Dawn. After all, it appears as though she was the sole source of the knowledge that the Odyssey supposedly failed.

Thanks for taking the time to put these videos together. It's nice, having now played through all of the quests, to just sit down and listen to your collected commentaries, plus I love the slow pans across landscapes. I love putting up clips from the game myself, as the graphics are so good in HZD.

Their motives and real reasons aside, it is suspicious to me how fast the Odysee was ready. The project lost it's funding because people decided they can't spare the resources anymore for something so ambitious and seemingly too far fetched when they have other immediate problems. It is abandoned for years until it gets purchased by a group of wealthy people. 3 years later a war breaks out that dooms humanity. Suddenly this project gains a lot of importance. In the threat of extinction the people now perceive it as a last hope. The Odysee Project receives special funding again and is finished only a year after the Faro Plague started. Some of it's technology was also used for ZD and it's preservation of genetic material and the leading scientist in that field was extremely surprised by how advanced it was compared to anything else used at that time. It can't be coincidence that a comglomerate of wealthy individuals pour their resources into something that lay abandoned that just 3 years later becomes a beam of hope in the face of extinction with technology way more advanced than it should be in that time frame. Extinction created by an unwinnable war that should not have begun, a war against corrupted machines that are unhackable. But it's not a coincidence. Far Zenith, with all their money and resources, could have been secretly developing the technology for the Odysee the whole time and decided to purchase it when they reached a point where it seemed possible to achieve. This would bring the time frame from 4 years to a more reasonable time of 8 years. They could have been working on it ever since the first project has been cancelled, having more than enough money to fund the scientists in secret. This explains how it is so advanced without the leading expert in the field having ever seen anything like it. Far Zenith pours all their resources into this project, knowing that it will work eventually and they do get it to a point where it could be. To execute it they need the resources they previously had, resources that were given because the people were scared and wanted a way out, a fail safe. So they created a situation where that fail safe would be needed again. How does an unhackable army of super robot killer machines just malfunction like that? Errors like that don't just happen accidentally, someone introduced the malfunction that made them able to disobey commands and wage their own war against humanity. Far Zenith convinced Ted Faro to corrupt his machines and doom humanity. Elisabet Sobeck said that she's tell the world "the real reason" for the Faro Plague when she threatened Faro, hinting that it was more than just an oversight and a mistake. The world was deliberately doomed by a man without morals, who wasn ruthless, reckless and not opposed to spark war between his buyers to sell more machines. It's not hard to believe that such an individual would be willing to let the whole world die if he was offered the right deal. And with no hope of the planet surviving, there would be need for the Odysee again, an escape from a dying planet. The oportunity Far Zenith needs has been created. But there was one problem: it worked too well. The chariot robots were killing the planet too fast. Even with the efforts of Enduring Victory people were dying too fast, the robots multiplying way faster than they had thought. Because they underestimated the machines their own project was in jeopardy. They were short by months but still tried. I'm not sure if they survived or not, if Elisabet lied to keep the efforts focused on ZD. Let's assume the Odysee made it. It could provide more depth to why Faro deleted Apollo. The Odysee has a prototype if Apollo on board. I'm not sure what Far Zenith's motives are but if they want control over the earth, deleting the Apollo that is part of Gaia would give them an advantage to the "primitive" humans inhabiting the planet.

Imagine that the Odissey in fact survived somehow. The ship crash landed in a very distant planet in Alpha Centaury system, with few survivors unable to communicate back to Earth. They manage to stay alive, build an provisional ecosystem and procreate, despite the harsh environment of the planet. In the following years part of them will be able to migrate to a near planet similar to Earth to continue thriving. The first planet would be dubbed with the name of the main corporation that funded the Odyssey: Helghan. And those who stayed were dubbed as Helghast. Bang!!! Killzone and HZD are om the same universe!! Think about it. According to KZ lore, in the Terran Era the planet was empty of all living resources, and that started aprox in 2070, which coincides with the Faro Swarm most critical stage.

Here just after the new Trailer for forbidden west showed us „Tilda“ at the end. A character looking VERY much like someone that’s directly connected to the odyssey project.

So I was replaying the game, and I noticed two things. One in the data point about the odysseys destruction Elisabet mentions that far zenith specifically references the telemetry is being their source of information on the odysseys failure. But a little earlier when you’re looking through Travis Tates files on the Hades protocol, he mentions that if the Gaia is allowed to do whatever she wants, she would start falsifying telemetry and reversing Hades activities. So for all we know, the people on odyssey or possibly an AI like vast silver falsified the telemetry that said the Odyssey was destroyed

Oooh how I hope the theory is true. I really enjoy it, and would be interesting to see the difference in the way of thinking between the old and new worlds, as well as how the Odyssey crew would actually be received by the current residents of Earth and how they integrate the knowledge from the Odyssey's version of APOLLO into their lives. Also, the fact that the ship did have APOLLO, makes me think that yes, Far Zenith did have some inclination on what the true purposes of Project: Zero Dawn actually was, but maybe we'll wait to the sequel to find out.

I don’t believe the Odyssey blew up. It would even make sense for Elizabeth to lie in her message to make sure people are kept in the believe that they are the only hope for humanity. But I also don‘t think it is responsible for the signal.

I feel like the Odyssey is out there somewhere. I also feel like they did send the signal, either on purpose or inadvertently. Either that, or silens has something to do with the signal in the first place.

It wouldn't actually take 1000s of years to reterraform earth a 2nd time. Remember Gaia already has the robots and cauldrons, she won't have to redesign them and rebuild them like she did the first time. The first time was a learning experience for her she didn't exactly know how to proceed and how well her planned techniques on terraforming and the robots she was building would work. Now she knows which robots will work best and how to terraform and purify the air and oceans. It would definitely take a long time though, likely several centuries at the least. Awesome video man I love you Horizon content and can't wait for your Forbidden West content in the future because HFW adds SOOOOOOOOOOO much lore and answers SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many questions but always raises a few more too.

I love your videos but there is one flaw in them. You keep saying thousands of years later but Aloy goes in to a mission and hears that she's 940 (I can't remeber the exact number) years late to a meeting.

I just found your channel and your horizon videos. I'm loving them. With regards to the possibility of the Odessey creating the signal. They might not have wanted Hades to completely fulfill his function and entirely destroy the earth. They could have perhaps simply wanted Hades to remove the tribal humans then they could have shut it down before it did too much further damage. In the game it seemed as though Hades was focused on eliminating the tribes not necessarily completely eradicating all life on the planet. I haven't given it too much thought or done much looking into evidence like you have but just wanted to share my 2 pence.

I agree with this theory. And might I suggest that Anti matter containment failure = time travel. Time travel answers questions 1, 2 and 3.

If they managed to reach speeds close to light speed, time would go much slower for them though. It took close to 1000 years from the departure of the ship to the present in the game, but with let's say 99 % speed of light that time would be 90-100 years on the ship.

I have hard time to believe that whole of New Zealand would be under sea. Highest points there are over 2000m! It would mean almost 70% of Europe and 40% of US would be under sea as well. (This would mean the whole of Denver and Colorado Springs would be under water!)

Here's another, related theory that I personally subscribe to. What if half of the sent telemetry is true? Lets say there was an antimatter container breach when attempting to leave the solar system. To me, the most likely place for that breach to happen would be near the ship's engines, which would result in pretty significant damage, though not necessarily to all parts of the ship. Most if not all of the habitable parts of the ship would suddenly lose pressure and all life on board would die. However, what that also says to me is that, if this happened during the main thrust of the journey, that means they hadn't achieved escape velocity yet, and they were still in orbit around the sun to a degree. On top of that, they also had an Alpha version of Apollo on the Odyssey. Alpha versions of any program is buggy as all get out, but their main function would be clear to a degree, so this buggy, glitchy, possibly semi-sentient version of Apollo would know that it was meant to teach humanity, but was unable to. So it spends that whole time on a busted and broken ship, drifting through space, thinking and planning. The Odyssey's orbit eventually brings it back within radio range of earth, and Apollo finds the earth in it's tribal state. Apollo Prime, the Apollo of Earth, didn't initiate it's core functions. So what's Alpha Apollo to do? It sends the signal to GAIA that is meant to initiate the Hades program. With a clean slate, and the terraforming efforts restarted, Alpha Apollo can now take the place of Apollo Prime, and finally teach this newest, third attempt at humanity.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the faro swam also hit by a unknown signal that made them self aware. I remember reading something akin to that while playing that it wasn't just a accident or gradual process of the chariot line become self aware and it wasn't a bug. Some form of exterior foul play had "struck" them and turned them against humanity and then came back centuries (not melenium's) later for Gaia or was it just a bug that gradually made them go rogue

it took thousands of years several thousand of years ago. If the Odessy and it's tech continued evolving it is possible that they could do it faster. it is also possible that they speculated that the world would be destroyed if not precisely in the way they expected and hence the odessy

I love this theory because just imagine.. If the Odyssey is still out there, perhaps orbiting the earth, that means Apollo is still within reach of the people. What would all that information do to the tribes and people like Aloy and Sylens?

Now this has me thinking as well. I collected all the information ingame about Far Zenith,The Odyssey and i believe the other inhabitable world is called Sirius X? That seems to be kind of a trend among Guerillia Games lol. If you played the Killzone series. Now i am not going to set myself up with hopes and such in the sequel but yes..conspiracy theories are good for a reason. I just stick to the information the game gives me though. The theme of this game however seems to be Rogue AI's going rampant after Gaia went offline. But if i had to make a assumption about the Sequel. Canceling my previous comment. I bet the Alpha Build of Apollo..that was on the Odyssey is still around. Sobeck mentioned this in one of the Datapoints. And unlike the Apollo used for Gaia it has far less restraints. It could use the Wreckage of the Odyssey as it's home from space. I doubt Far Zenith is still around. Who knows the Apollo out in space staged it all. It would not need air. It has all the information still intact. If it's still intact it is not unthinkable. It could even repair itself. Because nobody touched that one..not even Ted Faro. He only erased the one under Gaia. It is a very likely assumption it wants to reshape the earth. Irony also has it The Apollo was also a real spaceship in our time heading for the moon i believe. That is my bet. The masters is just what Sylens calls it. But i bet it is the Alpha Build of Apollo that sended the signal. It's own Master executing it's own plan to reshape the world in it's own image.

Great video, I never considered that the "Masters" were the Odyssey crew and you make good points to punch holes in the theory but now that I think about it the Masters being the Odyssey actually makes sense. This is gonna sound like New World Order somewhat but maybe the Odyssey lied in case GAIA succeeded so the humans of the new civilization (what should've been had APOLLO not been deleted) wouldn't attempt to locate them. That way they can maintain authority over their newfound planet via isolation policy without concern of outside interference since nations war over resources and territories either for survival or greed and the same principles would apply to planets, and maybe returning to Earth is the result of declining resources on their own planet forcing them to return. Since the Odyssey has their own APOLLO they'd have the same mindsets as the Old Ones but they'd be returning to a world of primitive Viking-like tribes and violence and they'd probably be unwilling to regress, cannot establish a settlement of advance tech without provoking the tribes but as stated GAIA would need a lot of time to rebuild the bio-sphere (unless it can somehow kill humans alone). I think their goal was to reset Earth with HADES and rebuild GAIA (with APOLLO restored) and remake Earth the way it was intended with their own embryos in the cradle facilities instead (I've heard the cloning process for GAIA is a one-time deal so restarting Earth without new embryos would leave the planet without humanity) and I think they gave HADES the virus to release the other Subordinate Functions as a backup. It would mean they themselves would perish eventually but their embryos would rebuild civilization as intended but of course their intentions would be driven by arrogance since they could simply just share the knowledge of APOLLO with people, but they'd likely dismiss the current humanity as failures unable to learn from their failures.

WOAH! This theory of Odyssey faking their failure has blown my mind!

The Faro Plague could have hacked into the ship's drives though mucking with hardware designs for drive components (what we do today to some NK missiles) or through wireless signal.

Just going back through a lot of the lore in lieu of HFW releasing. This one got me thinking - what if Elisabet didn't fully trust Ted (well, we know she didn't). So Odyssey was basically her contingency. That said, I think the machine text data points tell us a lot and we've overlooked them. Two of the Tallneck logs US-W-20 and from the Frozen Wilds US-W-10 are very unique. Then there's the last cauldron log CM LOG 329G that specifically lists Hephaestus as the intruding agent - not Hades. Even in the original game Hephaestus was the one making new machines but it seems all but one cauldron managed to prevent intrusion. The last log lists humans as an "encroachment threat" and flora, fauna, and biosphere threat as "high". It was never a full reset. It was Hephaestus directly targeting, or as the log says "culling" humans. I think Hephaestus somehow was the one that activated Hades and was pulling the strings. After all, Hephaestus made the machines - machines that has processors Ave communicated. It very easily could've made them even more intelligent and used them to send the signal (maybe using the transmission towers). Or even uploaded itself to a machine, or among multiple machines. Or, this might be the crazy part, we know they made humanoid machines other than the servitors. Imagine the humanoid machine Hephaestus could've designed.. and now we see some seemingly highly advanced human in HFW 🤔 Humans are part of the fauna but we're detrimental to the biome. So just make better "humans" and it's mission accomplished.

I think you have neglected to take Time Dilation into account, it may take 1000 Earth years to return to normal after another purge but on the Odyssey possibly less that 100 years. Also in the time spent on the Odyssey, perhaps the tech required to infiltrate GAIA was developed. For all we know the signal may have been sent as they left from the New Earth knowing that all would be habitable on their arrival.

Far Zenith had absolutely no need to lie. Elisabet would’ve worked hard to save the Earth either way. It only exists to trick the player, so it wouldn’t be incredibly obvious that they would return in Forbidden West. It was obvious regardless lmao

I think we'll see or hear about the Odyssey project. What is the probability that Ted Faro was or still is on that ship (he could be part of Far Zenith). If, then at least one person would have known about project Zero Dawn. If, what would this knowledge change about the Odessey Project. This also puts Ted Faro's deletion of Apollo and the killing of the "Alphas" into a different perspective.

I remember feeling so lonely when you find out the Odyssey was destroyed. And then after the events of FW you go from excitement, to disappointment to despair once again in regards to their existence and end.

It sounds more like an AI took over Odyssey, blew up the engines to keep it in orbit, and used it as a satellite host, that's not physically assailable by any entity on Earth.
