Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s World Cup-winning moment of 2011 has won the ‘Sporting Moment 2000-2020’ Award at the 2020 Laureus Awards held in Berlin, Germany.
The moment titled ‘Carried on the Shoulders of a Nation’ was among the five nominated entries for the greatest sporting moment from the year 2000 to 2020. Post India’s historic win at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium in on April 2, 2011, Tendulkar was carried by his teammates on their shoulders and honoured with a victory lap.
It was truly one of the most memorable moments in India’s cricketing landscape, one that will be remembered by cricket fans around the globe for generations to come.

Biplab Kumar Mahata Saw SW come in to bat on the morning of the second day in the 2001 Ashes Edgbaston Test. He came in after a wicket on the third ball of the over. Play was rained off at tea. In between, SW hit a sumptuous century. Top player and top guy. Glad he’s involved in the admin side now.

For Sachin is greatest player to play cricket. If he was still playing he could have created more records. Nowadays batsmen have chance to score more runs , changes in rules make batsmen's job easier. He played good against the greatest bowlers around the world.

Sachin Tendulkar played next to our old house Bristol County Ground, UK in the early 2000's...The crowds rocked the ground ...Some really good friendly crowds in those days.

very sad...I just born that year 1999 March....I cannot watch that match...But i remember the sweetness of Cricket during my childhood..It was more interesting then... But now cricket loss it's Previous glory...I always wish that i could go to my childhood days again...😢 Sweet memories....

@1:09 Image from Super 6 match vs NZ in 1999 world cup. S.Tendulkar. B.Dion Nash. it was the first ball of the over. I remember when watching that match, the previous ball before he got out was 3 run. i was happy to see Tendulkar playing the entire next over but he got out, bowled middle stump the 1st ball of next over :( Was super disappointed. I was 9 years old then

NZ won that match and reached the semi final. In 1999 WC, India never recovered after their defeat to South Africa and Zimbabwe in the first two matches. Sachin had to return to India before the Zimbabwe match due to the death of his father. India somehow bounced back and reached the super six. But the defeats in the first two matches meant that they didn't carry forward any points as SA and Zim had also made to super six. This meant India had to win all three of their super six matches to reach semis. Defeat in the first super six match match against Steve Waugh led Australia put an end to all hopes. Victory against Pakistan in the second match was sweet but it was all over by then. The third match against NZ was a formality and NZ won it. I was 15 then 🙂. Memory remains quite good.

Why doesn't Indian cricket chase Steve Waugh to be India's head coach rather than bewda shastri. Indian cricketers would do well to learn about mental toughness, demoralizing your opponents and leadership from Waugh.

Sachin should have played more for the team. I agree he is great and very best india ever produced in terms of talent and cricket acumen. But would have been much higher position today if he took a little risk sometimes. The run rate when he was in 90's was frustrating. For his talent he can score more easily. I know he is targeted more by opponent teams and no support from his own team mates either because of match fxing or no talent. Personally he is selfish I think. I will place Kapil ahead of him in service.

@@briane5706 Gots to give a "like" to your comment. These sportsmen are more honest and have tendency to lean towards peace rather than the conventional politicians. The challenge is, folks in Pakistan have done their part, but it's now the turn of Indian people as to who they bring into the power. Unfortunately, the current fascist regimes in India have instigated racial and religious hatred among the Indian public. There is no intention of peace by the Modi govt. And ironically enough, once the biggest democracy in the world, is now THE ONLY COUNTRY in the world where religious fanatics are the ruling party in power.

This is why Tendulkar is the greatest of the great. Waugh travelled to India so many tes and yet he has a sort of negative and critical tone about India. Whereas Tendulkar has so much of positive tone about Australia despite knowing how much discriminations Indians face there and he and his team mates faced there.
