The FFL is not the elite of the French army, the elite are the french commando marines (like the navy seals) the commando para, etc. Also the pilots of Rafale and Mirage. The FFL is very good but they have almost the same training than a regular soldier in the French Army, but yeah in USA they would be the elite because the training of regular american soldiers is bad.

@@anne-mariebrummer5691 Not at all they're not even a special force, they're used as regular soldiers and the french special forces are far better trained and effective than the foreign legion. The elite of the French Army is the COS (Commandement des Opérations Spéciales), and there is not the FFL among them, but there is the 1er RPIMa (commando para), the commando marines, the 13e RDP (dragons para), the CPA 10, etc. *The FFL has NEVER been the Elite* . They're good bu saying they are the elite is an insult to the elite, because the FFL are regular soldiers. The French training for a regular soldier is just better than the regular training in the most of other armies in the world.

​@@anne-mariebrummer5691 It's a fact you can't deny it, the elite of armies are the special forces and the FFL is not a special force, so they're don't come close to the Elite, you can ask the French Army if you want, i know 5 militaries in the French Army, including ranked officers, and they all confirmed it to me, the French Elite is the COS, it's its name.

@@irov5884 the army would say that but to me and my mother who was born and raised in france. She told me many stories about the FFL during ww2 and they were the best of the best. That holds true today.That makes them Elite to me.

@Noone they are not a special force. Special forces are part of the COS and all GCP are from conventional regiments and are not in the COS so GCP and GCM are not special forces

@Noone Oh god... As I said before the GCP IS NOT A SPECIAL FORCE even if they are commandos. You can even check the French Wikipedia page if you want. fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupement_des_commandos_parachutistes "Bien qu'ils effectuent des missions parfois complexes, les GCP n'appartiennent pas aux forces spéciales" Which means: "Despite they do sometimes hard missions, the GCP don't belong to the special forces". And my friend who served in the GCP is better placed than you to speak about it. The special forces of the French army are listed by the COS (Commandment of Special Operations), and the COS says THE GCP IS NOT A SPECIAL FORCE, THERE IS NO SPECIAL FORCE IN THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION. That's a fact, you can't deny it.
