I love every era of the Legion (bronze age Legion and Superman were my first comic books). Glad to see some people still "get" what makes them special. You stated it well! :)

I'm a Legion of Super-heroes collector, and I'm trying to pick up as many Legion of Super-heroes appearances in single issues as I can! The collection is currently at 674 issues. I started reading with the Mark Waid/Barry Kitson run in 2004/2005, and have been in love with the Legion ever since!

Continuity was all over the place at the beginning. Some mentioned the 21st century while some mentioned the 31st. Supergirl supposedly meets the sons of the Superboy’s Legion but that concept is dropped. Superman gifts flying belts to the grown up Legionnaires and stories of the regular Legion started featuring them. I always found peculiar how everyone was willing to sacrifice themselves for Lightning Lad but apparently no one would be bothered by some other Legionnaire dying in his place. Funny that Proty manages to take that bullet and they are sad about thay but the very next issue Chameleon Boy says oh this is Proty 2! Also, a product of its time, with several occurrences of the guys going “No Saturn Girl, you are a woman, we men will take care of this”. I’ve read all of vol 1 and want to read the other two, although I’ve read the Fatal Five story by Jim Shooter.

Yea... the dated misogynist comments are an unfortunate byproduct of the time. You see the same stuff in other Silver Age Marvel/DC comics. As far as the character deaths and Proty-Proty II. I noticed that too! haha Proty's death was so impactful... and then kind of shuddered away. I can only assume that was done for the "sake" of the kids reading them at the time.

I have all 3 volumes. Very glad I got Vol. 2 when it came out. I have all the single issues from Adventure Comics #300 onwards. The omnis are just easier to read, although a bit heavy. I love the John Forte era but it really takes off once Shooter and Swan take over in the second volume. Long live the Legion!

That’s so cool! Yes! I’m loving the Shooter era right now that I’m reading through it. I hope we get some sort of collection for the material after Silver Age Omnibus vol 3 and the Superboy and the Legion HCs!

@@TaylorTalksComics yeah, I have toyed with the idea of getting the bronze age collections. But they start where the archive editions stopped and those later archive books are a tough find too. I'd much rather they put out proper bronze age omnibus, covering the Cockrum era and beyond. My Legion run is unbroken from Adv. #300(1962) all the way through to the "End of an Era" storyline (1993). That covers a fair few omnibus collections lol. Liked and subbed to your channel. Legion fans will always get my support 👍

@@martyrocks2091 WHOA! You have an insane collection then! That’s amazing! I’ve just been picking up any of the hardcover or thicker TPBs they’ve released. I hope they put out more in the future for sure! And thanks for the sub!

@@TaylorTalksComics Thanks, Taylor. I have been a Legion fan since childhood and bought a lot of my Legion run as it was being published, from the late 70's on. I still have the copies I purchased then and they are very well read. As comics should be.

I'm not a huge fan of Silver Age DC, but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on these LoSH Omnis. I really can't wait until they release some Bronze Age Omnis, though. Now that era has some great comics! I have all of the hardcovers from that era too, haha.

I would be curious if you do give these a shot and what your thoughts are! I desperately want a Bronze Age omnibus that collects the material from the Archives that I mention in the vid!

@@TaylorTalksComics Same, dude. I have some single issues in my/my dad's comic collection that's sitting in a big bin in my closet. My dad often talks about how he wants it back, so I hope we get an Omni, lol. I don't know that I've read any of the Dave Cockrum stuff, but I've heard that's good too. I was thinking about getting The Life and Death of Ferro Lad, but I think all of that early Jim Shooter material is in these SA Omnis.

@@hamzadawud Yea! the Jim Shooter era begins in Volume 2 of these SA omnibuses.... which is OOP and HTF right now unfortunately. And that volume has the Death of Ferro Lad story. Shooter has stuff in the third volume as well. And in what would make that Bronze Age omnibus

@@hamzadawud Vol 2 is a good one to hunt around comic shops if you have any around. It is only $75 cover price. So, it isn't too bad to buy at cover. I assume there are copies collecting dust around! Hopefully!

Yea... it is. I keep advising people to go hunting in comic shops. There have to be copies collecting dust in some shops. And at the cover price of $75, it makes it not too steep of a book to buy at cover.
