The Ermine Street Guard in action, with help from Dutch, Germans, Italians and Belgians. You can see them marching, forming a testudo, the Line, the Wedge and a training fight between legionnaries. Luckily, this year the weather was great, so I was able to make videos of the cavalry display in addiion to the march of the legion. I hope you enjoy it.

Xanten is a small German town near Duisburg. It is mostly known for its archaeological park in which one can visit the former Roman town Colonia Ulpia Traiana, a settlement of veterans near the Rhine from 110 A.D. to 275 A.D., when it was destroyed by the Franks. Today the archaeologists try to bring the Roman era back to life with experimental archaeology. Also, Xanten is the mythological birthplace of Siegfried, the hero of the Nibelungen-saga.

SABO Well, there is a free Total War game known as “Total War Kingdoms: Battles,” however, it is not the same as the others. Since my computer isn’t that good, I don’t think buying a game would work for storage or glitches. Yet, even if I do have a good computer, I can’t find any of them, not even Walmart. Thus, the only Total War game I can afford is Rome Total War for the iPhone, but I’m still thinking about it.

Well the Germanic people were enlisted into the Roman army in the late Imperial era. The people who brought down the Western Empire were Latin speaking Germanic-Roman citizens.

King Mener in 500 testa time esentialy everyone in Europe was Roman. All of europé up to the Rhine river and great brittain exept scottland was Roman cirizens. So Romes history is theres history as much as ANy italian. Rome conqued italy the Same way they concuerd gual and spain

Really top notch costumes and gear. The minor variations revealing individuality of the actors and their armorers is stunning and adds to the realism of the exposition. Beautiful colors, designs---- everything with a high degree of historical accuracy.

I like the fact that none of the riders are actually using stirrups (historically accurate since stirrups wouldn't have been in use until the early middle ages); nice touch! Not sure if intentional, but even the building in the background looks like it would have been a typical limes structure.

Danilka Fon Kristyanov Talingting no shit I want to see you buy the armor and spend your free traveling to train with a bunch of random dudes paying out of pocket for gas and traveling expenses to do demonstrations. Because these guys aren’t getting paid to do so. Also these armors are even post Caesar his legions wouldn’t even look like this. This is a hobby for these people they’re paying to be there. Also have you ever marched in a formation without any formal training? It’s not that simple you’re training to do everything correctly while listening for orders.

@@gabrielm.942 srly try to look at ROTC drills. I knew the pain and sweat and the problem with miscommunication due to the incapability of some officer to give enough of a voice. And mind you we practice only during weekends for less than five hours or more if we're out of time. Only a day per week for sixteen weeks and the last time I looked, we were already robots.

In case you are wondering it cost around 20k dollars to buy an entire roman armor set. Im talking about the best of the best equipment, not some cheap Indian reproductions, i mean craftsman that will take months or years to make your stuff using authentic methods and materials

@Marko Milivojević Grew up with that game :D both games have pros and cons in my opinion. Rome 2 is the worse game, but I enjoy the larger scale enough to prefer it :)

It woud've been better if they pulled it off with proper trained men. In this video you can obviously see actors trying to imitate roman battle tactics, but only partly get anything right...
