Hm, I thought it was gonna be bigger, but the size makes sense considering that it also features the whole launchpad . Still, Saturn V looks not only taller but much more detailed and pretty I think, and the build experience is probably better too (speaking about the rockets only of course). One detail that is an improvement on this rocket is the escape tower system apparently, nice!

@@CheeseyStudios Especially if the crewed lunar landings take place within or after that stretch of time. It would make a lot of sense to revisit SLS even after the first crewed landing of Artemis since starting with Artemis 4 (as currently planned), they'll retire the current second stage in exchange for another. All in all, SLS will be a little different by then both visually and internally.

IMHO the Saturn V is still one of the best LEGO sets of all time. Especially the diorama part and the possibility of simulating the transposition, extraction and docking maneuvers for the CSM and LEM add depth and educational value to an otherwise awesome and impressive set. A launch pad would have been great from the start and a no-brainer for LEGO to make profit off. The SLS/Artemis looks great, just a pity that so many of the decorations are achieved by stickers.

@CheeseyStudios just looking at the dimensions, I thought it would look pretty silly, but I didn't realize that Saturn V would dwarf it THAT much. I've been considering getting all the tower pieces (with a bunch in red) and making a similar 160:1 or so scale MOC of Saturn V to display with the SLS set. I really am impressed by this LC-39 build. I'd just love to have one for an Apollo launch. And the more I think about it, I really like the idea of LC-39A and LC-39B displayed side by side but with a 5 decade time span between them!

The failure of LEGO to have released the launch tower for the Saturn V was a big fail on their part, as many of us bought MOC versions. Sorry lego, I'm too anti sticker to even consider this. Sometimes I just leave them off but sadly I dont think this model would work without them

I feel like this model without stickers would still work. A lot of the grid detailing ends up being a bit messy honestly. Totally up to you though.

can LEGO stop with the stickers already, they are just bad and for the cost of LEGO they really shouldn't be using them.
