I see your point, but if you want a Blacktron minifigure, those already exist. As someone who is too young to remember Blacktron 2, I love the reimagined minifigure and the storytelling it conjures up. 😊

@@kentslocum yeah .. no ... I want THIS Blacktron minifigure (with prints on the legs and new design for the torso and so on). I don't just want old minifigs. Those are nice, but these redesigns do have a point. The Mtron and Iceplanet guys are GREAT for example. even if they don't look like the old one, they are what they are supposed to be. Also I love these digitigrade legs (this having only "half" of a full bottom of a minifig is bad because I can't make a fun alien / creature using this green one) . Not saying this can't be like this, but we need a full minifig set somewhere and the green monster parts used as well.

@@octav1600 You make a good point about fairness--why remake M-tron and Ice Planet, but not Blacktron? That does seem wrong.

@@kentslocum if it had plain white legs, no complaint, I have plenty of those, however the leg print is really good / great even, and there is no right leg with it (or a left monster leg xD)

@@octav1600 Look, I get it. You probably have a lot of nostalgia for Blacktron, and LEGO got your hopes up with this CMF series. They got you 50% of the way to a rebooted Blacktron minifigure, and yet twice of 50% doesn't equal 100%. But here's the thing. I bet you would actually be happier if you didn't know this CMF series existed. Then you wouldn't feel like you were missing something. I know the feeling. The LEGO Group has dashed my hopes more times than I can count, too. But the LEGO Group doesn't owe us anything. I wish they did, but they don't. They owe us quality plastic and good prints, to be sure, but these minifigures got those in spades. At the end of the day, everyone's mad. The Ice Planet people are upset that transparent neon orange isn't coming back. The M:Tron people are upset that their guy doesn't have a transparent neon green visor on his helmet. Let's all take a deep breath and express gratitude that LEGO gave you a throwback to something you care deeply about. I get it, LEGO could do better. Doing something isn't the same as doing it well. There is value in constructive criticism and in releasing our frustration at the state of the world by pointing out the flaws in our favorite toy. But I've never been excited about any of those classic space themes--I'm too young to have any nostalgia for them whatsover, and too poor to ever own any of them. This mutated Blacktron is the first time I've ever been excited to look into the theme, and I've realized that Blacktron was really cool. Gatekeeping your favorite LEGO theme so that others can't appreciate it is the opposite of what The LEGO Group is trying to do here. The first Blacktron minifigure got a reboot with the Gift With Purchase, and I'm sure the designers would love to reboot every single old theme. But I'm not looking at the minifigure from the perspective of what we've lost; I'm looking at it from the perspective of what we've gained. We got a nod to Blacktron II, which is more than anyone expected or needed. I know it seems like I'm saying, "Shut up and be grateful you got anything at all," but that's not what I'm saying. After all, I have had people say the same thing to me when I expressed frustration over my favorite film not having a perfect ending, or my favorite music album only being available on used vinyl. What I'm saying is this: You got Blacktron II. Modern kids have never gotten anything that cool from LEGO. We don't get a lot of inventive, creative, fantastic space themes. We get a bunch of pretty basic spacemen in plain white-and-orange vehicles. So this CMF series isn't for the old fans of classic space. It's for the current generation, with something that previous generations can acknowledge, recognize, and appreciate. And it does that job wonderfully. I'm old enough to remember Life on Mars, which was the theme from which I got my first LEGO set. LEGO briefly rebooted the pumps and tubes and sleds in Mars Mission, but they've never given us so much as a glimpse of those awesome aliens or Sand Purple since. If this CMF had a mutated Life on Mars alien, I would be rejoicing from the rooftops. Not because it was what I wanted, but because LEGO gave me what I needed--an imagination. A nicer spaceman is still just a spaceman. A mutated spaceman is endowed with endless possibilities, unending opportunities to reimagine everything youthought you knew. You were happy with what you had before. And then LEGO delivered something new and different. It's not like Disney delivering a Star Wars sequel trilogy that's genuinely bad; this is something good that makes your heart ache.
