to me, this set makes some sense. not in the context of a standard lego product though. this looks to me like a mood indicator. some children have difficulty expressing their emotions, and don't respond well when approached the wrong way for the way they feel. as part of therapy they may get a chart or magnetboard with pictures representing emotional states, and they can use this to mark how they feel. with this set the same can be done by rotating the different "emotion" characters to the front. while useful in that context, as the only set for the movie it does seem a bit odd. especially when this possible use is not explained properly.

I personally think Joy looks fantastic as a mini-doll. Maybe her height is why I think this. As for the other characters, I can imagine minifigure parts working well and maybe Embarrassment can work as a big-fig, but I can't figure out if Anger can work as a LEGO figure at all since he looks like a volcanic brick.

Making the iconic Inside Out control panel room with all the emotions as minifigs just sounds like such a no brainer, that would sell really well, so why did they opt for this instead? There's almost no appeal to this set besides arguably the minidolls.

Hey, those Lego movie cups are useful. They came out 10 years ago and our family still uses them on a daily basis.

I think both figures are perfect as mini dolls and much more accurate than if they would have been regular minifigures

So far I just made the Calamity Trio , Sprig , and Polly. The only problem is I don't know what the main build should be. Should it be a replica of the Calamity Box ? The Boonchy's house ? The Plantar's house ?

I still don’t think this set is that bad. Yes, it’s a bit overpriced and not what people wanted, but for what it is it’s fine. I liked DOTS, and at least we get some kind of figures. Joy is a slender character, especially compared to the other emotions, so a minidoll works, and Anxiety is spot on. Again, maybe I’m just biased, but I’m just glad we got something from Inside Out. Sorry, but I’ll be getting this. And no, I don’t enjoy this style of review. 😜

I really appreciate the potential of this set to help assist children with sensory differences to express themselves. I’ve seen similar style concepts outside of LEGO, and I think it’s fun that kids will get to build their emotions here. HOWEVER I think LEGO should have released at least one more set more targeted towards people who would want a more traditional LEGO set.

Tbh, if only they included just a few more emotions, that would give more excitement about this set, but however, I hope they bring out more sets for Inside Out 2 in June.
