At this point it HAS to be something on Nintendos end with their weird merchandising rules. LEGO can be a bit dumb when it comes to understanding what their customers actually want, but not this dumb. I'm sure at this point that LEGO would love to do sets with minifigures, and know that it would sell incredibly well, but Nintendo is preventing it.

Gonna be 10 years out and this theme is still gonna be electronic figures. Why can’t they make a new theme that co-exists like regular Lego minifigure themes and duplo?

The haunted mansion seems to be based off the mansions on 3D land

I think the Haunted Mansion is actually based on the generic Ghost houses in the games. It have a purple roof, just like in the New Super Mario Bros games

I honestly think it’s Nintendo themselves who don’t want lego Mario minifigures to happen. Wouldn’t be surprised if lego only got the licenses if they kept it in this style knowing Nintendo’s outdated business practices.

Lego Mario would be awesome if it was a slot car racing set, and you can make your own tracks from the themes in the game.

In my opinion those electronic figured are amazing, perfect for the actual target audience. I would appreciate maybe a Minifigure with each 18+ set or something though, that'd be fun

Idk about you but I really like the new Castle. The chain chomp is actually a reference to the Mario Kart Wii stage where a chain chomp lives in a hill next to her castle. Plus, the original castle was so flimsy and super over priced. This is not only at an appropriate price, but it can be transported easily. It also just looks nicer than the original which only looked good at a certain angle, otherwise it's super panel-y. Finally, Roy is a perfect addition to this set. He's the final koopaling and it's the one where he invades a castle with nothing but himself and his weird dog. That's hilariously awesome for me. And the addition of a normal basic Toad that isn't screaming or sleeping is amazing.

For the karts, they could create new sitting bottom parts like powerups for the characters to ride karts.

Honestly I feel considering how stingy Nintendo is with making toys of their main characters, it's likely lego is locked to only working with the electronic figures and not giving us minifigs because Nintendo wants to prioritize "play" Also I do actually like that the castle and mansion of this wave can actually close into their own lil displays

Ugh. I was interested with the title but then saw the electronic Mario figure (nothing against you J2G, you’re just reporting the news. Shame on Lego for this decision) Also I know that some people like this theme still, and that’s perfectly fine. The reason I and many others are disappointed is because this theme still really isn’t Lego Mario. The electronic figures don’t really pass as being part of the Lego system/world, and electronic figures are something that any other company could have done. There’s nothing “Lego” about those figures, other than the limited ability to swap accessories. As for the builds, many of them are simply facades. What many of us want is play/display sets in the traditional Lego format featuring various locations and scenes from the games. I also fail to see how the electronic figures were deemed a better business decision than minifigures. This theme was going to sell well regardless of the choice they made, and almost certainly more so with the addition of minifigures. The electronic ones please a minority and disappoint the rest, minifigures would likely please everyone.

It's crazy that Lego finally got Mario and they dropped the ball this hard. I bought all of the digital figures and a handful of expansion packs but at this point there's one interesting set per wave and a hit or miss 18+. I can't imagine Mariokart being much better considering the scale will result in no tracks or overpriced scaled down versions of them. I'm fully with you on this one, really think they should just put the digital figures to rest and make minifigures already.

I don't get why they dont make mario cart sets with minifigs, they already got the sonic figures. So it will only require them to make dofferent colors and heads for the marios toad is easy to do and princess peach as well as daisy won't be hard.

You’re not seeing the brilliance of the peaches castle. It’s an expansion pack to the first castle. These are Lego bricks. You can combine them.

Given that I no longer have any expectations to the theme, the presentation wasn't that bad if you compare it to the Mario day we had a year ago.

As much as I want Mario mini-figures and I’ve wanted to see Mario Kart brought to life in Lego form, the Mario Kart line MIGHT be good but the sets WILL/MIGHT be overpriced as crap.

Bowser train is cool, but making the same mistake as the Monster Hunters Ghost train by not making it rail compatible. Most people who buy this are probably going to do just that so not a great selling point. Mario Kart sounds like it could be awesome and with the electronic figure system it will mean probably bigger more substantial builds and there are plenty of vehicles to choose for. Really don't see it working too well for two wheeled bikes as the builds wouldn't properly be able to accommodate the figure. Seems very limited in what Lego can do conceptually. Also wouldn't be surprised to see a track building system introduced with each car.

When the leaks for Bowser's Train were revealed I was extremely excited as people speculated it'd be this year's 18+ set, but this set just looks bad in my opinion, the Bowser head looks way too big for the train, I'm disappointed it doesn't fit on actual train tracks, and the carriage looks way too small compared to the locomotive... Also all these sets feel way too expensive, which hurts, especially after the amazingly priced and amazing looking Bowser's Muscle Car set from earlier this year

Just face the facts just2good, it is 2014 and they are not going to do Mario minifigures at this point snice it started in 2020. It's a lost cause at this point to ask Nintendo and LEGO for them and get upset every time you make a LEGO news about Mario video at this point. Nintendo clearly obviously wanted to translate the gameplay of a Mario game into LEGO form in a way that works that Minifigures can't do, and make a game out of it.

Why even bother making new videos on the Mario theme? You're never getting minifigs, the entire point of the electronic figs is to better emulate the gameplay of the series (we know this for a fact it has been stated in dev interviews). Minifigs ain't happening because Nintendo AND Lego don't want them to.
