@@bobbyberro8107 I don’t know. But now that Boba Fett is now more well known, it’s easier to call the Slave 1, Boba Fett’s Ship. Since not a lot of people are need junkies & that’s what a lot of people would call it if they didn’t know the name of it.

A lot of people don’t realize casual fans and parents buying LEGO for their kids might not know the canon names of all these ships. "Slave I" isn’t mentioned in any of the films.

@@noahkresmer no, not at all actually. it’s along the same reasoning behind why lego labeled the razor crest for a little bit as somethin like “mandalorian transport ship”, and this new bad batch set as “bad batch attack shuttle”. they’re not the actual names, and i’m sure disney could care less about if they change the name from slave 1 or not

The Millenium Falcon has been mentioned numerous times whereas Slave 1 has never been mentioned in the movies. Besides it's just the name for this one particular set to not confuse the general consumers. Same with "Luke's X-wing" not being named Red 5

Weird how people got angry about this name change but not the 'Bad Batch Attack Shuttle', 'Knights of Ren Transport Ship' etc. Also apparently 'Slave 1' was changed because if you look up 'Slave' on Amazon or other retail sites, it brings up certain...er...'adult' items.

We did get upset about those things. Also, those were new sets that had been never released before, so most people don’t even know the real name of those ships. But the slave 1 has been made in Lego for YEARS and has always been called the slave 1. Everybody knows it. And it if you type “LEGO Star Wars slave 1” I doubt you’re gonna find some hardcore R rated slavery movie. Plus why would it matter if those things are there, if a little kid was looking for the slave 1, they’d click on the slave 1. Not scroll down and click on something else.

it's still called The Slave 1 in canon, it's unchanged on the databank, the reason the name is different on the lego set is bc most casual people don't know what the Slave 1 is but they know who Boba is

@@madebymelz7702 That's BS and even you know it, I'd wager. For 20+ years, the versions of this set were either called "Slave 1" or "Boba Fett's Slave 1". Casual people would see "Boba Fett's Slave 1" and the packaging and know it's what they need. There's literally no one on the planet that would see "Boba Fett's Slave 1" and the picture and NOT see that it was the set they wanted to get here. Most casual people would know what "Boba Fett's Slave 1" is.

Why change the name when it's been referred to as Slave 1 for 40 years and that's the name of the ship in the movie that everyone knows it by? Because slave can be taken as an offensive word and people are too sensitive? Where does it stop? What you aren't factoring in is that it won't stop because everyone takes offense to something and then once it's "fixed" they find something new to be offended about, it never ends. It's the ridiculousness of the entire situation and of our society. We're letting people who get offended by everything run things.

Honestly, the name is just for marketing, not every kid knows it's called the slave 1 so its easier for kids to ask for the boba fett starship, same as the bad batch shuttle, or poe's x-wing, they both have actual names but kids don't know them.

The name change is probably just for the Lego set and most likely future toys so that kids will recognise it more easily since it’s name was only mentioned on screen once in The Clone Wars s2, not because the word “slave” was in it. They called the Razor Crest and the Havoc Marauder different names for their respective Lego sets as well even though their names were mentioned multiple times on screen

The order to change the name came from Disney. The ship has had been called the Slave 1 for decades unlike the Razor Crest or Havoc Marauder, which have only existed for a few years. Its not for simplicity.

I like the smaller scale that Lego is doing for ships and vehicles. It would be cool if they did more sets in a smaller, more affordable scale. It makes it easier to build armies with ships and ground forces. I’d love if they made cheaper clone star fighter or vulture droids to increase a Republic or Separatist Navy.

Unless you don’t already have a Slave 1, this set is not worth getting. The boba Fett figure will probably come out in Book of Boba sets next year.

Looking at this from an investment standpoint I can almost guarantee that when the book of Boba Fett comes out we will be getting more of these new Boba Fett mini figures. Exclusive but only for now I think.

I honestly like that they included the little speeder. I think its well thought out, kids can play with it, put the carbonite piece in there and load it up to the Slave I. And for people like me, who buy legos to display the sets, it can be used as a stand. Very glad they decided to put it in there, otherwise you could just lay it down, which looks boring.

One benefit to the lighter sand green colour of his helmet and rocket pack is it displays much better behind the cockpit cowling.

Only thing I wish is for Fennec to be in the set, it makes way more sense for her to be with Boba than in Moff Gideon's crouser. She's his partner after all

Be sure to get the UCS slave 1 before December because book of boba fett is gonna make that set go to the moon

@@DubzyWolf since it’s a retired set, I would recommend not getting it on Amazon. Amazon third party sellers usually have very high prices for retired sets. I recommend getting it from eBay or bricklink. eBay has buyer protection so if you get scammed you will get refunded. And bricklink is very trusted I have ordered from there multiple times and had no serious issues. Bricklink has some pretty good prices right now if your looking for used but good condition. On Amazon the price for the set is around $600 but bricklink has it for for 400-450 used.

with the size, features (or rather somewhat lack thereof), and inclusion of a 1x2x5 carbonite brick, this definitely feels like a sort of remake/spiritual successor to the very first Slave I LEGO made back in 2000 (set number 7144) which I overall love; it feels like a nice (albeit subtle) tribute to the beginning of LEGO Star Wars. the whole set of mid-size ships kinda feels like that as they’re similar sizes to the first released sets; almost like modernized versions of the originals making them better than before while retaining the same charm

That's a tiny Sla--Mandalorian bounty hunter transport ship that belongs to Boba Fett. I'm impressed that the LEGO designers were able to get the shaping correct with the added features of the previous larger sets.

Yes this is exactly how it happened. When it was rumored to be an episode 5 version I wasn't gonna get it because I already have the 20th Anniversary Edition but now I really want this because of (obviously) Boba Fett

3:23 he says slave 1 at least once in the vid. I’ve saw this whole name change as no big deal. They want to put Boba Fett’s starship on toys and packaging. Fine No one is going to call it that though, so it’s no big deal.

@@craigbaconstudio I don’t really see that as an issue either. They’ll just say my ship, or “get to my ship” “this ship is the fastest in the galaxy” Every form of fiction has done that. I know tons of shows that ships didn’t get named until way later after they were introduced.

it's not that big a deal, However they are still using the term stormtroopers and marketing toys based off of Palpatine's Empire which is directly modeled after the Nazis of World War II. I find issue in the hypocrisy of not using the word Slave but still marketing space nazis..

Last year I ‘FINALLY’ got the 1999 first release Slave 1 and in all it’s vintage-ness I was fairly pleased. From the looks of this new version it seems to homage a little to the first with the pilot facing the top of the ship. Looks very cool and can’t wait to order/buy it, whichever comes first.

This set seems pretty cool, and must be really dense with all 500+ pieces being in such a small space. But I can’t help but wish there was someone else in this set, like Fennec, even if it meant swapping out the Mando. And Boba’s helmet and jet pack should really be a different color
