Tigers and Panthers were pretty much the definition of heavy and vulnerable. Most people just see a big gun and consider them the best tanks of the war, but the reality is different.

The Maus did not have a transmission it used direct drive electric motors the same as Porsches design of the tiger

Banana for scale says it can have a full crew of six. Bananas. Kommandant, driver, radio op, loader, gunner, secondary driver, Secondary gunner, Pet mouse in the engine room. All being replaced by Bananas.

Funny thing is, germans loved to make big things but the Maus wasn't the biggest tank ever made, although it was the biggest fully functional and produced tank but there where bigger ones that where prototypes but didn't actually go into full service.

4:45 due to its petrol-electric drive system, the Maus actually had neutral steering capabilities (turning in place). however, because of the Maus' weight of 188 tons I doubt that it was able to neutral steer, the transmission system and/or engine wouldve probably broken down. in theory the Maus could neutral steer, in practice it probably couldnt becuase of the stress on the drivetrain

The nazis had a plan to fix that problem also and one of the parts of that plan was to have very big treads but they were not able to get the size right of the treads right causing yet another reason why the Maus stayed in the prototype phase.

+Warren Smith What do you expect of a vehicle that was in the prototype phase, It would have had modifications and further variants after field testing. It's impressive to see something that weights 180 tons manage to move under its own power. Logistically it may have not been the best concept, but it's still cool.

This is my favorite build. I have been trying to recreate it because it’s so amazing. but I don’t have the time nor the skill that sariel’s bricks and pets has. The Maus tank is my favorite among your technic creations. It had helped me build my models in Lego Digital Designer (free version). I use that because Lego here in the Philippines is so so expensive (the price here is 2-3 times of that in the US). I hope you continue building & giving tips to help me & other rookies create new and inspiring models.

The least practical tank ever designed. It would have made fantastic target practice for Allied strategic bombers. Fantastic work though. The tracks in particular are very well done.

That's, really awesome! The maus isn't my favourite tank because it looks a bit boring and flat, but I can still appreciate the work that went into making it.

Here's some Panzerkampfwagen history: The Maus is the Panzerkampfwagen VIII. The Panzerkampfwagen VII was a heavy tank called the "Lowe". And before anyone says anything the Tiger II/Royal Tiger/King Tiger, it is the Panzerkampfwagen VI ausf. B whilst the Tiger 1 is the Panzerkampfwagen VI ausf. A. The Panther is the Panzerkampfwagen V.

Tomek Giesen Super-heavy tanks were meant for tanks that are FUCKING HEAVIER THAN 75+ tons, ARMOUR that is 230/50+mm (or some other number idk) and GUNS that are 150+mm
