@@spike6487 I don't think that Danielson will ever play "for" Saginaw. Win or lose, this is probably his last year of junior hockey. Next year he is eligible to play in the AHL, and the only scenario where anyone doubts he will do so is if he is able to skip straight to the NHL. But while he will not play "for" Saginaw, if his team wins their WHL championship then he play in Saginaw, in the Memorial Cup tournament later this month, though he will still be playing for the Winterhawks. If this happens, then I intend to root for the Winterhawks in all Memorial Cup games in which they are not playing against the Spirit.

I would compare Nate Danielson to Dylan Cozens. Cozens played on a better WHL team in Lethbridge. Nate played an extra season in the WHL on Brandon with middle tier results before being moved to Portland . About a 5 point difference between Danielson and Cozens who was on the faster track from the WHL to the NHL. Nate is about the closest drafted 1C so far and may be the answer to supplant Larkin.

I am certainly optimistic about how good Danielson can be at the NHL level. I think he and Kasper can be a great 2 and 3 centers for Detroit, and I expect both of them to be highly competitive in making the roster next season. Ultimately it will come down to how the Mo and Raymond contracts shape up and how Yzerman decides to navigate the UFAs and RFAs as to whether or not there will be enough room on the roster. I certainly think one of them will make the roster and take the 3rd or 4th line center spot.

I love how different he and Kasper are too. Danielson will be a poise, skill, all purpose center, while Kasper brings tenacity and a physical edge. Even if these guys only peak as bottom to middle six of the NHL roster, that will still be awesome. LR, do you think we could see either of these guys in Detroit next season? I think Kasper makes the team, if not out of camp, than by later season call up. I thought he played okay in the Red Wings game he suited up for a year ago. Danielson I think will play a year in the NHL before he gets an opportunity on the Wings roster. Jeff Riger of 97.1 the Ticket made a video taking about the possibility of bringing Stamkos to Detroit, especially if Kane moves on. Would it be a good fit? Would he play center? I almost think he's a better winger, but it's not as difficult to find a decent winger. Anyway he points out Stamkos's connection with Yzerman and Lalonde, and the question if Stamkos would be more interested in continuing to play for a team who's window seems to have closed, vs playing for a team on the rise and verge of being a perennial playoff contender, playing meaningful hockey. I wasn't on board with it at first, but the more I think about it... solid veteran presence who brings 30-40 goals, and two, nearly three recent Stanley Cup rings. What would be needed to get it done, money and term? Thoughts?
@esleptheslepth4564
@esleptheslepth4564 27 күн бұрын
That's 100 percent the wrong way to think about it. Yzerman had a job to do and that was build us a real top line and get stars. Drafting players in the top 10 should be about finding top line players. We have WAYYYY too many bottom 9 players and not enough top line players. Honestly the only player on the team that's proven they should be a top line player has been debrincat in the past. In the best possible situation Larkin would be a second line center. Yzerman has utterly failed at draft in terms of getting us top line players with raymond being a possible exception via the draft. He keeps taking high floor low ceiling players in the mold of copp... both of his f.a center signings have been utter crap in terms of production via cap hit.
@TrevWire
@TrevWire 27 күн бұрын
@@esleptheslepth4564 draft wise, I only see one probable miss if I’m being honest. It’s not like they’ve had a ton of top picks either. Raymond(4), Edvinsson(6), Seider(6) are the highest pics he’s had. Everyone else has been out of the top ten, or barely in it, Danielson (9). Could he have done more in free agency, probably, however he just spent his first five years cleaning up after Holland. Those books were a mess! I’d say in reality this is year two of the rebuild. I can be critical as well. The Kostin, Holl signings for example look like wasted money. I think this forward group is gonna have quite a bit of turn over this off season. If they want to compete right now, they spend a bunch of money, but how long does that last? 2-3 runs if you’re lucky? I think he’d like to get the team back to a perennial playoff team and cup threat for the next decade. You’re not going to buy that, until the end if they try to keep that window open like we did at the tail end of the 26 year run. That cost their future though. It’s why before this season they haven’t sniffed the playoffs in 7 years.

I'm not blown away at all. When he was drafted I watched some shift by shift film of him and.... I told you so Lego. It would be nice to see him net a few more of those picks himself but that will come as he gains more confidence. He seems like a legit 30 and 60 for 90 guy with top tier defensive responsibility if all goes well. I'm still not sold on Kasper. I thought not taking Nazar was a miss, and my second favorite was Lekerrimaki. Maybe Kasper is the better pick. He had a decent AHL year. He played well in his one game with the club and seemed to play hide and seek well. Maybe I'm wrong. I think Danielson is that guy who's going to come in as the 1b center and provide that play driving the team is lacking though. If Kasper works out well I think he's the 3c.
