Leica M3, Summicron 50mm, Adox Silvermax Film, Forest Fire Smoke, Rockies, Reveni Light Meter Review

Reviewing the Reveni Labs Light Meter on my vintage Leica M3 film camera with a 50mm Leica Summicron lens and some Adox Silvermax 21 black and white film. Smoke filled skies from the Oregon and Washington forest fires can be seen here in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
This test was over a few days, both days in the same smoky, dull, overcast light in the mountains and a few small towns.
Adox Silvermaxfilm development notes - Ilford HC 1/31 dilution for 6:45 minutes, agitate every min for 10 seconds.

I'm in Spokane washington, and it suucckkksss. The smoke is just creating this insulated heat dungeon. I've still gotten to make some photos, but can't eat for it to pass. Great video. Love a black m3. Great shots. Woo!

Looks like the metering is spot on. I’m excited to start using mine. Love the shot at 7:11 and of the old Ford truck at the end.

@@photomcbobo705 I don't agree. Maybe the meter is fine, but you are not using it particularly well. Meter reads some avarage of the scene, of this high-contrast scene with blown up sky and your results are mostly underexposed. Film has wide latitude and it preserves highlights much better than digital sensor. I think - you can of course disagree (maybe these dark photos is what you are after), that you should be mettering for some middle shadows, middle tones in such scenes.

@@wojt4spes In these high contrast scenes, you are either going to blow the highlights or kill the shadows, you wont have both.

Awesome review! I wish I had the money for a M3 😅 just picked up my canon P 2 weeks ago and Just picked up a reveni light meter to pair with it my canon P! It’s great to see just how easy it is to use it and works especially for how I meter 😅

I’m not sure you can get Adox Silvermax anymore. I’ve been scouring the UK for it; think I got the last roll last week can’t find it anywhere.
