Does it make it a lot bigger? I'm sure it would help, but I like the sleek design as it is!

The hand grip makes a huge difference in my opinion. I have both the hand grip & thumb grip which work great in tandem. If I could only have one, I’d pick the hand grip for sure. It makes it feel much more secure in my hand & it doesn’t add much bulk.

Hi Ivan, we know, but why do we have to move the thumb while shooting? Other manufacturers allow you to use the centre button. Moving the focus point and resetting it in the same place makes a lot more sense, especially because it's simply a firmware decision!

Don't we all? Fuji have taken a step in that direction with the adaptters: great image quality retained, slim shape out of the window...compromises!

This camera is special. The low light & higher iso capability is in the “game changer” category. I wasn’t sure how big a difference it would make until I started shooing with it. It’s the 1st camera I’ve owned where I don’t have to worry about low light. I can shoot anytime day or night, handheld, with no issues whatsoever. I switched over from Canon full frame DSLRs & always shot 5D models & L glass. I sold it all to buy this camera & I don’t regret it one bit. Almost everything that comes out of it is print worthy & requires almost no editing

Hi Philip, I used no filters when shooting. For the shooting I did I didn't find it limiting not to have the digital filters in Silver Efex, but yes, I will probably find a time when I will miss the colour information to work the file. That's when I'll probably whip the real filters out again!

You actually can reset the focus point to the center if you double click the center navigation button.

Is the file any different wen using that mode? Compressed or less bit rate? Otherwise it's strange that we have to select a specific mode to get access to a full buffer. 20fps in electronic shutter is not a mode I used in street photography, but I would expect the camera to use the buffer no matter what. It is a problem.

@@ShootTheStreet I’m not really sure what you’re asking. The individual drive modes will control the number of shots before the camera stops taking exposures and writes the files to the memory card. If you’re trying to operate the shutter in single shot mode by rapidly activating the shutter button repeatedly that’s not going to give you full efficiency of the internal buffer. And, the very high speed drive mode is the only mode that locks the camera into electronic shutter only.

@@baerv3753 The camera was used in continuous shooting mode. Normal/mechanical shutter. Notwithstanding this, the "full efficiency of the internal buffer" should be completely independent from the shooting mode. As it is, mechanical shutter continuous shooting simply stopped shooting after 5 consecutive frames. I never had this issue with any other camera. The buffer is a container (or a RAM memory), and the bottleneck should lie in the memory card, not the shooting mode. It's like having 32GB RAM on your laptop but being able to use that only with a specific program and not others. Odd behaviour, and a problem.

@@ShootTheStreet well, I’m a bit puzzled because my Q2M doesn’t have the same problem. The only time my camera stops the shutter activation is in the very high speed mode when it locks after 11 frames until it writes the files to the card. After the files are written the shutter button is functional again. All the other modes continue to fire the shutter although it slows once the buffer is full. In the low speed continuous mode my camera fired the shutter 94 times until I got tired of hold it down to see if it would stop. I am using a fast UHS-II card (300mb) so that may make a difference.

@@baerv3753 Yes, the camera keeps on shooting after the 5 initial frames, but at around 1fps only. Pretty useless for continuous shooting!

Hi Jan, Leica makes some choices that are difficult to understand. I hope they have a very good reason for being that way, and it isn't just lack of attention to detail! They certainly have the details right with the build quality and lenses, but the firmware?

If you check the reply above I explain better what the trouble is. It's not a normal, functional BBF.

Hi Ken, thanks for commenting. The problem is that the only AF function you can assign to the Zoom button is AF lock. This means that it is an AF toggle: you press it and it will lock focus. To AF again you have to unlock it pressing the Zoom button again. It's an odd function, meaning that you will have to press it twice to re-focus with the same button. At the same time there is no way to dissociate the AF function from the shutter button, meaning that unless you lock focus with the Zoom button you will AF every single time you press the shutter. This is not back button focus, it's a really odd behaviour with no obvious use to my mind.

@@ShootTheStreet Thats weird, you would have thought it would be a normal back button function....no doubt you will ask if there is a firmware update imminent .

@@ShootTheStreet I’m new to this, but you can lock focus with the Zoom button, recompose, half-press shutter button (which keeps the little lock icon on) and then fully depress shutter, preserving focus from original lock.
