Statistics show that the South African economy is losing approximately R6 billion due to criminal syndicates involved in illegal mining. Scores of poor illegal migrants are sent down into abandoned mines to dig for gold and sell it to crime syndicates, mostly at a risk of loss of limp and life. Can the issuing of licenses for artisanal miners help to reduce the carnage?

Why is media today not reporting on the fact that most Zama Zamas are from Zimbabwe and Lesotho??? Instead of blaming those saying it's illegal foreigners

Also these foreigners are working this illegal mining together with South Africans, we know it, no one can lie to us. Not only foreigners as you always make noises but SA citizens still got involved there. They are not innocent as you think.

Let's say the Zama zamas didn't dig those mines....How was the R 6 billion of untouched minerals going to contribute to the economy?...To make it more unreasonable , minerals from abandoned mines?

The informal sector cannot not be licensed for many reasons ranging from safety , security, work ethics and enviromental prospects like drinking water and local ecosystem

@@ignatiusmoela8396 there are many illegal miners who are South Africans that your community leaders have just kept quiet about. We know they are many SA citizens still working with these foreigners. That is the reason foreigners have flocked into South Africa for illegal mining, they work together with South African citizens. You cannot lie to us, we know South Africans are still doing that illegal mining, while other South African men work as security to ensure safety of that illegal miners, we know them all. Go and do your own research, I did my research, not just talk like an idiot, full of hatred.

South African media must not be biased when reporting as they never report that their own citizens also got involved in illegal mining, working together with illegal foreign miners. When making noises, SA media must tell the truth without hiding anything. SA media seke oa etsa SEPA LEHOLO KE LA MOLATA. JUST report the truth. Why did you exclude the presence of SA citizens involved in illegal mining and some who work as security to protect those illegal miners? We are not stupid, we also do our own research.
