6 Month Review Lelit Bianca
Lelit Bianca www.espressooutlet.net/lelit-...
well I know this took me longer to review then expected from when I had the bracket on instagram to see what machine I reviewed next. I think this machine has a ton to offer obviously its very expensive but it does strike some value with beauty, functionality, quality, and unique features. you could say why not buy a decent but to that id say look at both machines side by side and tell me which has the looks that drop the jaw.

Hey Joe! Great video. It's really nice to see the evolution of your channel. I just purchased the Lelit Bianca and had it delivered last Friday. I purchased it from Kinvara, Ireland. The owner, Ciaran, sells and repairs many Italian espresso brands. I saved $1200 and the only caveat is I have to use a step up converter since it is 220v. Not really a big deal since I will just mount the water reservoir to the side to have room for the slim transformer in the back. My question to you, since you've had some time with the Lelit Bianca, is would you happen to have a good setting that would mimick a Londinium shot? Since I'm reading through the manual, it doesn't speak much about the LCC options. It says to look at the extended manual. I didn't see one in the box. Would you recommend starting with low flow, a few second pre-infusion, rest for 5-10 seconds, then ramp up to 9 Bar and a low flow end? How would you set that up on the LCC? Also, does the whole 25-35 seconds go out the window with this machine? Or do you just start a timer once liquid is flowing? So much to learn, so little time! Thanks my friend, Joe
@JoeyVaracalli
@JoeyVaracalli Жыл бұрын
Yeah that sounds right get it too two bars for ten seconds then ramp up. Just depends on the grind for londinium if you want to shoot for the 45 second shot. In terms of the time it all depends on the style of shot you are going for. So yes and no on the time question

Hi Joe, cheers for the review. Just curious, what is the coffee/puck pressure if you fully open it? Higher or lower then the pump pressure? My pump is 9,5 and the coffee/puck pressure goes to 11 when fully opened. I see more people having that issue so something is wrong there as it should never be higher then the pump pressure.

What was the default pressure for that machine? I think most are set to around 10 bars, which will result in about 9 bar at the group since you're losing some pressure to the flow of water through the coffee bed. My Synchronika is set to around 10bar with a blank/blind disk in there and it gives great results. Even with a vibratory pump machine I think you can go higher flow than stock flow rate. I think flow control is kinda over rated, it's not exactly pressure profiling. Definitely good to weigh / measure, unless your machine has volumetric dosing if you want consistent results :D
@JoeyVaracalli
@JoeyVaracalli 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben I love flow control myself I have much better results. I totally agree with you about weighing out doses and output for consistency. The machine was set at 12 bars and I’d get 11 bars in the group

@@JoeyVaracalli I don't have this machine (yet) but my understanding is that the pump pressure is set that high to give the user the option to go there if desired -- for example you could open the flow control all the way to 12 bar in order to overcome choking on a really fine grind. Why limit the pump pressure to no more than 9 bar when you've got flow control to do that?

In the end I justified the extra $1k difference by the flow control, the superior (to me) aesthetics, and the thought that I may never seek to upgrade from the Bianca, whereas there could be a future where I may want a bit more than the Silvia. A Con? ... 9:29 - that you have to flip the machine and turn it over to plumb it in? Really? Fact: If you are plumbing this or any espresso machine it can be a bit of a hassle, but you only do it once and your done. Plumbed my Bianca 18 months ago and and haven't thought about it since. It would only be a con if you had to do it everyday.

I agree but there are other brands that make it easier and for me I travel with my machines quite frequently to give coffee demos and classes so yeah idk it would be a big pain for me and probably end up damaging my metal on the side by flipping it all the time. @@JoeyVaracalli Fair point on your behalf but I believe it would be safe to say less than 1% of the people that buy this machine to take it on the road to do demos and teach classes. Listing it as a con is a disservice to both Lelit and your viewers who are trying to make an informed decision prior to purchasing. As I originally alluded to, plumbing any machine can be a pain the headache of the various fittings, SAE to Metric, NPT to MIP, FIP or FPT etc... a hassle yes but not a con. At least not to the average person shopping for a home espresso machine.

@@eltonnoway7864 If Joe's channel is addressed to other educators who travel the road teaching the in's and out's of espresso... then for those individuals and their traveling classrooms looking to purchase another machine it could be a considered a con. However, if his videos are intended for KZfaqrs at home looking for accurate and informed information, he probably shouldn't have mentioned it. I like to believe he had trouble finding things to complain about so threw that in as a con just so his review appeared to be more fair and balanced. Personally, after reading Joes reply I struggle with the idea that he actually plumbs in the machine at every classroom location he travels to. If his plumbing connection headaches only occur at his home when he yanks a machine out for travel, then again he should look into installing a Quick Disconnect fitting which not only shuts off the flow of water but is perfect for quick and frequent connection and disconnection. (Typically used with inline water filter systems)

@@zsazsagapaw7666 The other one to consider is the Synchronika (basically upgraded Profitec Pro 700). I'm sure they're all great, it's more a matter of pricing, or what you like brand and style wise, there might be some small differences in features which can help you with your decision as well. Extra steam tip and inclusion of the naked portafilter is a nice extra. The Default steam tip on the Synchronika is great though. Synchronika also comes Joystick style knobs, and has the option of flow control as well. Which I think is overrated.

Yep, quite a few videos doing a head to head comparisons of the Bianca and the Profitec 700. It was on my shortlist. The biggest difference "i.e., deciding factor" for me was the overall size. The 700 is 3 inches deeper front to back and 2 inches wider than the Bianca! If you have a huge kitchen with lots of free counter space then the footprint of the 700 wouldn't be a consideration but the 700 would have overwhelmed my kitchen. NOTE: The Bianca and its now famous flow controlled E61 group head assembly was designed from the ground up. The 700 did not initially have flow control. Due to the success of the Lelits design ECM and other manufacturers have undergone several design modifications in order to complete with the Bianca. To date the 700 has now gone through 3 retrofit designs in its attempt to emulate what the BIanca does out of the box. Not a huge consideration just something to be aware of.
