The recipe of ŠAKOTIS was first developed by monks in 15th century.
To create a cake that resembles the appearance of a Christmas tree, it is made layer by layer using a special oven.

Very interesting! I enjoy watching baumkutchen being made, but I’ve never heard of this Lithuanian version. I love the spiky texture made by using the sieve, and the graduated base, which makes it look so much like a tree. TFS 😁
