2 жыл бұрынI am a huge fan of hiking and anything outdoors and sometimes finding the right footwear for those adventures can be tough. Lems is one of my favorite brands when it comes to shoes and their new Outlander Hiking Boot is incredible. Not only is this boot both fashionable and extremely comfortable it is perfect for any terrain. I tested these from the Great Sand Dunes, into a waterfall and in the forest and each environment was just as easy to conquer as the last. If you are looking for a boot to accommodate your outdoor lifestyle I cannot recommend these enough!

Replaced my Xero Daylite Hiker Fusions which started falling after maybe 3 months of use and had no traction on any sort of wet terrain with these, and they've been great so far! They're even grippy on wet grass!

I live in Chicago and I know these are meant for hiking, but using public transit and walking a ton in the winter through slush, rain, and snow in a city like Chicago with brutal winters- I've found that waterproof hiking shoes work so well. I'm excited to try them out. Walking a ton with warm socks means you don't really need the absolute warmest boot as you generate heat so something that's comfortable and water proof checks the boxes.

These were my first pair of 'barefoot' boots. They were great this past winter. I like how the midsole is thick enough so it doesn't feel like an extreme barefoot shoe and toe box is not super crazy wide so it's a great transition from normal boots. I went with half size larger then what I typically wear to allow for thick socks though maybe I could have gotten away with my regular size. Two things they could improve: Laces from different material and longer. I find they come undone sometimes and I really need to tighten the entire boot to have enough length to laces up to the last holes. I may purchase some different laces. Secondly, toe box height right at the toe area could be slightly higher. With these two things improved they would be perfect. Grip always seemed fairly good as well. Interested to see how they will do on some summer hikes.

I thought I was the only one with the laces issue. Mine come undone if I don’t double knot them but my knot is microscopic since the laces are barely long enough.

The Boulder boots looks and sounds great, however my main concern with it is traction. I am not a heavy duty hiker but would like something that I can wear in snow or on loose rock and have a bit more grip.

I've been using mine for carpentry and they've been good enough through the sawdust and wood chips and I've used them for some hiking too. Didn't run into any issues with substantial loose ground but I would be skeptical once they wear out a bit just because they aren't as aggressive.

I've used them at places like rickets Glen in Pennsylvania and they are shit for traction outdoors. It is the one drawback I have for the Boulder boot.

@@codythomas52 That was my concern, I went with the Freet Ibex. I have not had a chance to test them out much but the traction looks better than the Boulder boot and it is very flexible. Some people do report they are not good on packed snow, however I wouldn’t think anything is too good for that.

Do you know how the width is compared to other minimalist shoes like the Primals? Edit: for anyone else looking for the answer, Lems have updated their site to show width comparisons, these are a little more narrow than the Primals.

If you go to Frisco there is a great empanada shop. Argentine owned! The Boulder needs some cushion. I the build is so nice but no cushion kills me. Good to know there is an option. Thanks!

Hi Odie, thanks for this review but still can't find ... anywhere, how easy, or not, it is to get your foot into the boot. The reason I am checking this before I splash out on another fortune is that I bought a pair of the Lems Boulder Boot! I could not get my feet into the boot... I have very high arches. In the end I had to snip the material holding the tongue in place so that I could make the opening larger. I can now get my feet into the boots, with the aid of a shoehorn, and they are very comfortable. I would love to actually see the size of the opening in these Outlander boots before I buy them. Can you help with this problem? Thanks x

I just want them for normal everyday winter use. How do they hold up in the cold weather, would your feet be cold in frigid temperatures? I live in Midwest (Kansas) so it's very cold & we get snow and ice.

I haven’t tested them outdoors in cold temperatures for long periods, but I live in Western NY and they do well for driveway shoveling and short walks.

I can't comment on the durability of lems, but altras are awful. My lone peak mids started leaking after 60km due to the waterproofing flaking off where the shoe bends. They do not cover this under warranty as its "normal wear and tear" after 3 hikes. My two other non waterproof trail runners got holes in the same spot within a few hundred kms. Comfy shoes but poor quality.

@@shawnago thank you I see on there site they are falling apart already on some of the reviews. $220 is a steep price. I have the Nike acg goretex trail boots 🥾 but I think I might try these. They don’t really have good reviews online if you search them on Google.

That's true. I also dislike that they're glued rather than welted, which means their life is essentially limited to the life of the sole. Seems that almost all minimalist shoes are glued, which is a shame, especially when these companies usually tout themselves as eco-friendly. Vivo has their Revivo program, but it's only available in the UK. It's a shame because the upper on any shoe will usually outlast the sole 3-4 times over.
