After five seasons, the female protagonists of the HBO series “Girls” are nearing 30 as they go into the final episodes of the show. Creator-writer-star Lena Dunham tells Maria Shriver she hopes she has told a good story about female friendships. Then, apparently unaware she is still on the air, Dunham flusters Shriver with a reference to a part of male anatomy.

she is a genius and I honestly am so appalled at the hate she got at the time. I just watched the entire series now and it's a brilliant work of art. she's also very self aware and isn't making excuses for the space she's been awarded.

I loved this show, it was honest, interesting, it didn't have a woman writing one column a week while living in new York, buying designer clothes and very expensive shoes, and drinking fruity martinis 🍸

I'm amazed by how hateful people are about Lena Dunham. To me, she's honest, intelligent, incredibly driven and organized, insightful, and fearless when it comes to sharing her imperfections.

I love that she is driven and successful and continues to be herself while so many people hate her and try to bring her down.

So well spoken and intelligent. When my children are my age will be considered a feminist icon (even if she isn’t appreciated right now). Some of the greatest artists in history weren’t properly appreciated in their time… sometimes it takes the masses a little time to catch up… but they will (eventually).

The ending was fantastic. I wasn't expecting for it to be that bold. I know people hate this girl, but I adore her. Looking forward to the final season.
