What I think the song is about: She was in a relationship with a guy. He had been cheating on her (for 6 years!), but she never knew because he was really loving and caring toward her. She found out, and was very upset. She says that she would've rather had him treat her bad, because then the amount of heartbreak would've been lesser for her.
