While i was working in a Montreal restaurant, we have a day off and went to a friend"s house. I took a guitar to surprise everybody and improvise to play this song. No rehearsal. Hands down my favorite vocalist, just to coolest sound. The range and ability to switch from smooth to an aggressive, but controlled, scream is perfect.

Petition to start using this songs in TV shows etc instead of I Believe I can Fly. It works just as well for the theme of flying and, oh yeah, it's the better song by the better artist and the better person.

I remember when I heard this song for the first time. I was driving my Shelby Mustang. I stopped the car right on the shoulder of the highway in Toronto Canada. I closed my eyes and moved my body and felt this track deep within my soul. An OPP cop came behind me with his flashers and approached my car. I heard his sirens, I opened my eyes and rolled down my window and he said "are you crazy parked on the highway"? And I said "Fly Away made me do it".

I thought about him family daily every song ever sung, and then he hit the lottery. I learned my lesson never to put so much meditation into a song about somebody you loved. But then I realized with his winnings he was messed up on drugs and stuff, his wife died of an overdose, the man who I loved such a heartbreaking story every time I listen, to Lenny. ☹
