More Leno and Osborne videos!!!
@chipper4423 жыл бұрын
We need more of these please. You guys are great together, especially just cruising around talking. Reminds me of the early 80’s, cruising from “McDonald’s to Burger King, to Dairy Queen with my buddy John, laughing at all the off road truck guys packed into their own lot as we drove back and forth a million times. Thanks for the flashback Jay.

Another very entertaining and well done video! The thrill of driving something like that is to realize you have the power and control over monstrous momentum and chaos that is capable of producing awful destruction within seconds.

i was standing on the side of Third beach road a little past the Bird Sanctuary when i saw this car coming. I thought wow, this is a cool car. You could here it before you saw it. Then as the car was passing i saw Jay Leno driving it. He gave me a smile and I smiled back. I was thinking, how random that was. Jay Leno driving a drag car on some off beat side road in Middletown.

I could watch these guys all day . Very informative and entertaining . I had a 1974 Nova when I was 21 .My dad used to say it would pass anything on the road except for a gas station or a Liquor Store .

Love the old Nova's! In high school everyone had a cheap 70's Nova that we could tinker on ourselves.

Yup i had a 68 passed down from my grandmother original owner that i loved but always wished it was a 67...damn northeast weather rotted it to point where i had to get rid off 😢

Bought a 1966 Nova for $ 100.00 in 1977, nice condition, white on the outside with red interior.

This is the buddy cop show that never was, but should have been, a match made in heaven. Maybe you two could play semi-retired, men of leisure, investigating interesting cars, and solving age old mysteries. Or just keep doing what your doing. I totally subscribe to your opinion on sidewalls, they deserve respect.
@georgestemple33103 жыл бұрын
First off I would rather have that nova then a hellcat second I had a 72 nova ss 350 4speed excellent car

Built with the same theme as my 65 Falcon (just not blown). I'll be pushing 60 before long and this is the stuff we cruised in every weekend and also drove to school/work every day. Very Cool !!

I've always wanted a car with a supercharger with the blower hat like that. It just looks mean. And sounds great. Thanks Jay and Donald
@johnnelson75443 жыл бұрын
That was great and it's nice to see you riding around the island. At the end of 2nd Beach is where I tested all my cars. We painted stripes to show a 1/4 mile starting at the base of the Sachuest Wild Life Refuse which wasn't there when I was a kid. We used to drag race there, no side roads and you could see the cars coming for about a mile. Nice.
@bobcory23833 жыл бұрын
You guys aren't the only ones who snuck a car out when you were a kid. We use to hot rod around some of those same roads back in the late 70s when muscle cars were cheap used cars. There were probably a dozen or so in Rogers high school parking lot. None had a super charger though. Great video looked like a lot of fun. Oh by the way the trick is Jay don't roll it over before bringing it home.

Thank you for posting this video . My girl friend / wife owned a stock 67 midnight blue nova loved the beauty of the car . I was very lucky to own many vehicles I liked the style of repair yourself drivers cars . Today's average affordable cars do nothing for me guess that gives away my age .

Jay Leno's Garage, East Coast Edition...love ear tuned many a car's carburetor and distrubutor timing running up and down that stretch of Paradise Ave and Sachuest road
@Redmenace963 жыл бұрын
Jay makes it clear that this is an older and less sophisticated build to make HP. I've been to the dragstrip, and a clean, correct Pro Street build is just a fantastic machine- that is within reach of the common man! Might take you 5-10 years to finish the build, but highly enjoyable. As Mr. Leno points out. The ultimate weekend car, at 3 miles per gallon.

I owned a 67 Chevy ll nova when I 17 wish I still had it. Nice car
@jonlewis32613 жыл бұрын
Yes, Mr. Osborne, agreed--sidewalls ARE underrated. For a slight edge in tire stiffness that you can't really use on the street, you sacrifice ride comfort and risk wheel damage. For most cars, sidewalls look better, stylistically, than a strip of rubber painted on the rim.

BMW upgraded economy cars similar to the '67 Nova and marketed them as luxury sports coupes - during the '70s gas crunch Americans started buying lots of them as most of the Japanese small cars were tinny - not that the 2002 was built like Buick.

My dad had a '65 Chevy II, which I think is the same as a Chevy Nova, or very close. I'm pretty sure it had a 230 six cylinder engine with automatic transmission. It was my dad's first new car purchase. It had air conditioning ! He was in his early 50s, so you get the idea that he was a cheapskate, which he was...it runs in the family. Anyhow, he was disappointed in the car because it had a cracked head. A rational person would have the head replaced, but he was trippin' ( which is to say he developed an emotional block ) and I think he enjoyed having something to complain about. But, hell, it still drove great. It did well on the L.A. freeways with plenty of power to pass, and didn't overheat. He sold it after about 6 years, which I would have rather he give me the car because it was a good car. That was when he bought his Toyota, which was typical of the 1970s consumer. He wouldn't believe the money people get for their fixed up Chevy IIs these days.

in the mid 70,s i was in my 66 GTO it had cherry bombs on it next to a 67 427 "VETTE" with big side pipes on it and the cop picked me for the loud pipes and fixit ticket, he said he really picked me over the "VETTE" cause he wanted to check out my 500 hp 389, never did anything about it and had that ticket in glove box still in car when i sold it

A Chevy 383 stroker is a 350 cubic inch block with the 400 cubic inch small block crank. Maybe the 327 was stock, and maybe there is a way, but i don't know how you'd get 383 inches from a 327.
@WiseGuy023 жыл бұрын

@cheif10thumbs3 жыл бұрын
No Va?
@unclebob79373 жыл бұрын
Ok Jay, a 383 stroker is not a 327. Its a 350 block with 400 crank and rods. Also the 2 Lane Blacktop 55 chev had a tunnel ram 454 not blown.
@MonzaRacer3 жыл бұрын
Actually a large journal or custom small journal 383/400 crank WILL fit in a 327 block. Only difference between 350 and 327 was .230" of stroke.

Nice Nova, great video but one thing I found odd: That front bumper hanging down on one side. Seems to me someone building something like this car would pay better attention to that.
