note not all 100e chromebooks open from the back. some you have to take out the key board. i just broke the back of mine thinking the back comes off instead of just removing the keyboard touch pad

According to Mr. Chromebox ( mrchromebox.tech/#devices ) the Lenovo 100e Chromebook uses a CR50 (Google Security Chip) to lock the owner out of the BIOS. You can bypass it to install a different operating system by removing the battery and running the Chrombook off of the AC power so the CR50 doesn't power up, or by using one of Sparkfun's "SuzyQable - ChromeOS Debug Cable" ( www.sparkfun.com/products/14746 ) and doing a weird loopback and then disabling the CR50 chip with some shell commands ( wiki.mrchromebox.tech/Firmware_Write_Protect#Hardware_Write_Protection ). But, uh, if you do that, make sure you back up your CR50 first ( chromium.googlesource.com/chromiumos/platform/ec/+/cr50_stab/docs/case_closed_debugging_cr50.md#Preparing-an-RW-image ).

I’m a little late, but this is probably because of the lcd power cable. It is incredibly easy to break and gets tangled easily with the plastic cable management guides
