You clearly aren't an IT guy...LOL. Ethernet is so valuable, especially for us network techs. WiFi, even in 2017, is still extremely limiting. Hard wired always wins, and it's reliable. That's why businesses still use it. You also forgot to mention that the screen on the T25 is a touchscreen.

Why is the price tag so high?

This does not harken back to the Thinkpad of 1992. The Thinkpad 700C of 1992 has the Ctrl key at the bottom left corner of the keyboard.

why are they selling a U duo core for 2k bucks ?

What the heck is it with reviewers and this "retro" idea? The only thing people were waiting for here is getting the superior 7-row keyboard layout back. That's it. "Retro" has nothing to do with it--it's about utility, not "nostalgia." Why the heck did Lenovo waste time and money on fancy packaging and logos no one will ever pay attention to when they could have spent it on things that are actually useful, like a lighter base model and a yoga-style hinge?

That keyboard looks amazing! Why are all the keyboards these days the same chiclet crap? It's all form over function. These type of keyboards were so much better. The rest of the laptop... not so great, especially for the price.

Just a quick correction, yes it comes with Sierra Wireless EM7455 (4G/LTE) modem included by default. You do not need to purchase the modem yourself.

Tong Zou The price is actually reasonable. A similarly spec'ed standaed T470 is the same cost. So you're not really paying a high premium for just a logo!

over 2000 bucks for a re-labeled T470… and to make it worse… there'll be only 625 of these being sold in europe >_> Lenovo went fully Nintendo.
@GregoryRCosta6 жыл бұрын
With the discounts, you should be able to get it for $1600...with taxes, it came around $1700. A T470 with similar specs is around the same price...but is missing the 7-row keyboard that I love so much.
@KRAFTWERK2K66 жыл бұрын
this is still too much for a dualcore CPU and a 14' Full HD screen…
@GregoryRCosta6 жыл бұрын
I'll admit it's expensive, but I'm taking into account that it's a limited run...the keyboard was specifically designed for this laptop (i.e., it wasn't simply lifted from a T420 and put in it)...plus, it is tailored a bit more to the ThinkPad collector's...for the 15 year anniversary, the ThinkPad Reserve Edition was $5,000, so I won't complain too much about this price tag. Hopefully following the run of this laptop they will make the 7-row keyboard a standard feature again.
@KRAFTWERK2K66 жыл бұрын
Sorry but nothing can really justify this price. Especially not after Lenovo took some sweet time with the surveys and asking the Users what they'd wanna see in a "retro" thinkpad. ALL the things we wanted to see… but instead Lenovo just slapped a colorful thinkpad Logo and a classic keyboard onto a regular T470 with garbage hardware where you cannot even have the configuration choices on their website, like you have for every other thinkpad. You simply just pay way too much for an underpowered piece of shit in a fancy box. THAT is the kind of shit that APPLE does. Selling some electronics as trendy fashion object at a ridiculous price. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Thinkpads anymore at all. Lenovo knows they fucked up with all the downgrade changes they did to the Thinkpad series over the past 5 years. And they will not change it anymore because THEN they would literally admit they messed it up and made mistakes over mistakes. This 25th anniversary limited shit is a blatant slap in the face of the Thinkpad userbase. This thing here is literally for dumb hipsters with way too much money.
@GregoryRCosta6 жыл бұрын
I understand your disappointment...I was hoping for a 16:10 display and indicator lights--I do, however, understand Lenovo's hesitation with including the features (sourcing those displays is getting expensive, especially for a limited run, and they could not have simply used the chassis from a T470). I still think the X300 or T410 was the pinnacle of TP design (keyboard layout is perfection. Screen dimensions are wonderful. Laptop weight is well balanced, etc.) I do want to establish, though, that I'm not a hipster with too much money...the last new TP I purchased was in 2008, my T400, which I use to this day. The rest were either second-hand or being disposed (e.g., a 1994 IBM ThinkPad 360c). For my graduate work, I do need more processing power and desire a traditional keyboard in a reliable package. This laptop fits the bill for me.

i like this model, make it less 1200 buck , will be great.
It is a powerful machine :x, is it a jock, maybe 10 years ago this thinkpad would have been powerful. The screen is not the good ratio, the cpu is gutless, gpu usless (maybe as powerful as the igp), only good part is the keyboard and trackpoint. The good part is I can keep my t420 for a long time (maybe forever).
@ubuntuforever6 жыл бұрын
I agree. Too bad they couldn't have just put a classic keyboard on the T470, like some people have mentionned. That would have been a way better solution than this mess. I also own a T420. I have upgraded to a quad core i7. It runs quite hot, but it will do the jobs for a good 5+ years still.

"it is slim.." and here's where they lost me as a customer. I don't want a slim laptop with built in battery and 16:9 screen… The keyboard is the ONLY good thing about this thing but I guess they won't sell these keyboards as spare parts for the current line of thinkpads so the ungodly terrible chiclet "keyboards" can be replaces with ACTUAL keyboards. However i assume it's still chiclet but one that mimics the look of the original thinkpad keys. At least it has the dedicated volume keys again. A 16:10 screen would have been much better and useful too, because 16:9 is the worst screen format for computers ever.
@ithinkabout43696 жыл бұрын
"However i assume it's still chiclet but one that mimics the look of the original thinkpad keys." So, you don´t know what Chiclet means? Chiclet means the keys are separated from each other. So keys which aren´t separated, like on the ThinkPad 25, can´t be Chiclet. You seem really confused there. Maybe you mean the key mechanism underneath? If this is the case, it still doesn´t make any sense, because Chiclet and Classic keyboards use the same mechanisms anyway.

16:9 screen ratio is a SHOW STOPPER, period. Also I can see a shiny bezel around the screen, this is ridiculous, fire those so called laptop designers, just fukin fire them. Also double sized escale and insert buttons travelled here from T420 times, not so great, gimmicky multicoloured logo. DISAPPOINTMENT. Lenovo can put this machine right into their silly bottoms. SAD. Lenovo polled so many loyal ThankPad fans to build a great no-nonsense professional users machine. DISAPPOINTMENT.
