Just a minor pro tip. I'm the IT dude for the company I work at. I've added RAM to about 300 of these at the office. To get the bottom plastic off, unhook the rear, and sides first. You'll have an easier time of it.

Rather than unplugging the internal battery unplug the power cord and go into the BIOS before you do anything. Go to the power options and turn off the internal battery. Install RAM/SSD and then reconnect the power cord to turn the computer back on.

I got it put back together without losing any of the bitty little screws. What I did was loosen them and then put a bit of scotch tape over them to hold them in the holes; I then tightened the screws through the tape on reassembly. I used my tiniest screwdriver, the one I use on my glasses.

Half soldered RAM and only one spot for an SSD... Oh, how the mighty have fallen. T440p could have two 2.5" SATA drives if you removed the optical drive, and even a third drive if you used the mSATA slot. I am looking at upgrading to a T14 Gen 1 but the loss of storage is a huge bummer as I was running two drives so I will not have any way to have as much space without using external USB storage it seems.

You got it off without ejecting the sim card holder?

Thanks for sharing. What model ram did you get? Mine came with 8gb DDR4 3200MHz on board so I want to get the same ram for dual channel.

Any idea if there is a maximum SSD to put into the T14? 2TB or 4TB?

There shouldn't be any technical limitation, as long as it physically fits. Like no double sided ssds.

does the cover ever go back on correctly?

No. I just did it to add more ram the lip from where it closes to where it joins by the trackpad gets bent from trying to pry it open. I don’t think it was from using too much force. Same issue happened when a Lenovo engineer replaced the motherboard. He had to order a new back part just to fix it

Your device is Gen 2. Gen 1 RAM is only upgradable via soldering.
@manchuratt8900

No. T14 gen 1 is upgradable. T14S gen 1 is not. You can literally see the gen written on bottom left of the back cover at 4:00.
