The ThinkPad T-series is Lenovo's bread and butter business notebook. This 14-inch T430 is a refreshed version of the popular T420. The ThinkPad T430 continues Lenovo's tradition of nondescript all-business designs valuing form over function. The buttons for both the touchpad and the track point are excellent with quiet, supple clicks. Its going to be talk of the town in few days!!

Gavin and Kevin, please let the engineers know that the bread and butter of Thinkpad laptop computers is a combination the trackpoint and trackpad WITH physical, tactile keys. The new clickpad on the T440, etc does not work well with a trackpoint. The clickpad is noisy, awkward and clumsy. I have a T530 and bought the T440. The clickpad on the T440 keeps getting stuck on right clicks. It is past 30 days since I bought it. Frustrated. There is an accessory that works better than a clickpad. I bought a mouse.

Question. I noticed while setting one of these up today that there are two button like things on the bottom front rubber foot pads. What are these? I have a feeling it is a very thought out function to tell the computer it is on a table or something. Thanks.

The T430 in the video looks a little different than T430 models for sale. The USB 3.0 ports are colored black in this video, and there's also blue color symbols on the keyboard (fn keys and Thinkvantage button) while models for sale have blue USB 3.0 ports and black color symbols (fn keys and Think button). Interesting

Lenovo ThinkPads are the best laptops ever made, Performance in & out. I've been using Lenovos since the IBM T40s and I will never use an other brand of Laptop for my personal use. I'm a PC Technician and I've seen and worked in pretty much every laptop there is, one thing for sure is that Lenovos don't com often through my shop unless they need some type of upgrades. HP's, Dell's and the other generic brands come through here very often in need to be fixed. Lenovo's are WELL Put Together!

The Lenovo Thinkpad T430 is a solid system with a trusted brand behind it. This business laptop is built primarily for a long battery life - the nine-cell battery slice gives the system a 30-hour range, according to Lenovo. Kitted out with a 128GB SSD, 4GB of DDR3-1600 RAM, HD Graphics 4000, a 1600×900 14-inch display, and the Core i3-3120M dual-core clocked at 2.5GHz, the system comes to $953.

My Thinkpad adventure started in 2017 where I bought a veteran T430 who had survived some sorts of war and still have willingness to do things at 3.3 GHz in Windows 10 with the i5, 2.6 GHz. Later I found an X230/i7 which seems more young and mobile, so that became a triple boot machine. They render a lot of video for me.

It is apparently the same keyboard used in the X1, or a tweaked version of it. In their X230 review, Laptop Magazine said that apart from the keys being a different shape it was exactly what they had come to expect from Lenovo. This has the same keyboard as the X230, so the same assessment is therefore true.

[4] As far as graphics goes it'd be nice to see both a consumer and workstation class option, in current generation models maybe a GeForce GT 640M or a Quadro K1000M. [5] Port selection: Back: Power, Left: 2x USB 3.0, Ethernet, VGA, Full DisplayPort. Right: 2x USB 3.0, SD Card reader, ExpressCard, Headphone/Mic, Ultrabay. DisplayPort can be adapted to DVI and HDMI so everything's covered in terms of video out. Although you can put in HDMI if you can squeeze it in somewhere.

I had a Thinkpad 410 14" 900p for a couple of years, then I built my first desktop and all working nice but I got so use to the Thinkpad that I was looking to buy the newest Thinkpad T450 but found out that there is no optical drives available on newest T series laptops and tbh I cant stand that, I fucken need my DVD drive! so I skipped T450, T440 bc of 2 good reasons, 1. no dvd drive, 2. touchpad too big and no physical buttoms, so yeah T430 was the best choice for me! I just hope I like the new keyboard as much I did the old one, mine should arrive in a few days can't wait! Please Lenovo bring back optical drives!

Actually it does looks like new :) though it has fallen several times from bed but I clean it up time to time. I get your drift though.. thinkpads are tough I've handled them but I'm still little skeptical about their pricing. I'd definitely go for a thinkpad if I get decent specs along with good build quality, whatever the price may be.

(If you guys ever read this) You've mentioned that you can get to functions that were there on the old keyboard, but are gone off the face of the new one, because those are still hard-wired in there. That is true too. Most people doing color critical work though will have a pro-grade monitor at home though, since laptops will use WLED backlit eIPS panels at best; and these still will not offer the color reproduction I look for... true 8-bit panel with high-grade CFL or GB-LED/RGB-LED backlight. That being said I still would appreciate having an IPS panel because I think TN is terrible in every way so yes I agree with you... a choice would be best (isn't it always?)

I liked this video in general, but slighty more information on the displays would have been appreciated. HD and HD+ were mentioned, which translates to 1366x768 and 1600×900. But then, nothing about panel technology, brightness, gamut, 16:9...
@GlenwingThink
@GlenwingThink 11 жыл бұрын
Also as I said even if there are still 16:10 panel manufacturers perhaps it incurs some unreasonable additional cost, something that Apple of course wouldn't care much about. No one knows... I think they do try to cut costs as much as possible, and a standard TN 16:9 panel is a way to do that. I don't agree with that approach personally, not on the T series in any case (That's what the L series is for, right?) but that seems to be what they're doing.

During my 10 plus years in the computer business I have fixed way more Mac's than Lenovo's. I'm talking about the older models out of manufacture's warranty. The things that HP, Dell, and the others haven't learned from IBM/Lenovo for them to be successful are: Not changing the looks to attract buyers with outer shiny Crap, Assembling the hardware for durability, protecting the Processors with cooper heat sinks... that is the most important thing to make durable and reliable laptops.

You got the point and ISP is also not just for people who want to watch a movie in a 3-4 person group. ISP is better for color management, better to read texts so you don't need to move your head and injury your neck. Or what if you show a demonstration from your computer screen? If you are talking about Professionalism and enterprise class computer. SSD + IPS is a must. This computer is for one who know nothing about notebooks. Thinkpad was a good series but now things are changed.

They put stickers on because they are considered standard. Not putting stickers is like not putting the OEM sticker that shows the MS prod ID, which is needed in case you need to reformat. I don't think you understand that Lenovo itself does NOT print the stickers; MS includes them when a company buys OEM OSs either individually or bulk. If they were to not include them, that would be wasting. If anything, you should be getting onto MS's case about printing the stickers.

Of course the blue enter button doesn't affect performance, that was a bit of a joke, it's not really top priority of course. I did want to put it at the front though. The more of those touches they remove, the more mundane it becomes. I'm not sure what you're talking about with low power laptops. And yes photoshop, CAD, video editing, rendering, graphic design, these things take multiple threads. This is not a gaming laptop. Also BF3 can utilize 6 cores.

[1] Blue Enter button. Top priority. [2] Better screen. Almost top priority. 16:10 aspect definitely, 1920x1200 max. Just like old 14" T61. Use an IPS (or PLS :D) panel as well, with a matte finish. [3] Dual-Core i3/i5/i7 is fine, although I wouldn't mind seeing the low voltage quad-core make an appearance as well (example i7-3632QM for current generation) considering many productivity apps are pretty highly threaded tasks. New chicklet keyboard has problems with durability. Hooks under key caps are breaking easily in T430 and X230 models. Search for "broken key" or "key cap falling off" and see for yourself how many people have this problem. The case is also less rigid than in T410 and squeaks under wrists. Not to mention rubber coating wearing off in no time.

I agree, I much prefer 16:10. If I were to guess, probably because it's the industry standard. The reason this matters is because very few companies actually manufacture their own parts, Samsung is one of the few. So since the industry has pretty much moved away from 4:3 and 16:10 it may be too difficult to find someone who still makes these panels or perhaps incurs unreasonable additional cost. Who knows. Personally I'd prefer a return to 16:10 though.

This is a business laptop. DisplayPort is more important for high-res monitors, as HDMI caps at 1080p unless you want the refresh rate to tank. You shouldn't be looking at ThinkPads anyway if you are looking for something to hook up to a home theater. That's just not the market they're aiming for.
