The look of love on this man's face in the painting is so charming. A perfect visual for this sweet music.

An underestimated composer who is at least equal to his Baroque peers with his operas. Sung enchantingly by Simone whose voice can almost make one cry.

La voz de Simone Kermes me maravilla tan dulce, suave y poderosa a la vez, me parece de otro mundo...

Leonardo Leo, the second greatest composer of all time, 100% forgotten until a couple of decades ago. Bach or Mozart or Handel or Beethoven can't do this. All the Neapolitan warmth, cantabile and the soavita of the Augustan era of western music, Naples 1720 to 1750, are packed into this aria here performed by the superstar Kermes.

Is there a translation of the lyrics available? Even without knowing the text, it is still a very beautiful song.

Act III, Scene 1 Cleonice: Without its usual sustenance, though fanned by a gentle breeze, the torch is bearly extinguished. If you cannot console me, why torment me? why do you want to magnify the force of my grief? (Aria text by Pietro Metastasio)
