Congratulations to Steve and Mrs. Dangle. I just watched Steve's introduction of Leo. He's beautiful and glad to hear that everyone is healthy. I remember every detail of the birth of my son. From my wife's contractions to the moment he was born. My son just turned 27 and the memories are still clear as can be. Enjoy Steve, simply enjoy every moment.

What I really like about this is that the memory is fresh, and you'll have a record of all the nuances of when Leo was born. I had tried a journal but many memories are fuzzy now.

First, a huge congratulations to you and the family, Steve. That's awesome, and despite any fatigue you're experiencing, you can see the happiness all over your face. All the best for a happy and healthy baby boy, and for Mrs. Dangle to get better, soon. Second, I just also wanted to say how much I resonated with you, about the whole 'unsuccessfully trying to have kids' stress. Without getting too graphic, a sports injury at 21, rendered me sterile. In the naïveté of youth, and especially during a period where 'having a child/starting a family' was the furthest thing on my mind, it wasn't entirely a bad thing. Now, as I enter my 40's, and watching most of my friends who started having families in their early/mid/late thirties, it has really weighed on me. I too, have gone to therapy; in part, to deal with the sense of shame that I am somehow inadequate to help create a life. Sorry to get personal, in the relative anonymity of a KZfaq comment section, but just want to echo your point about how (unintentionally) insensitive some people can be, when they ask you "So, when are you going to settle down and have kids?" I'm very happy that you and Mrs. D were finally able to experience, the miracle of childbirth. Sidenote: how miserable does one have to be, to downvote this vid?

Re: pets dealing... they seem to have an innate patience for babies who grab. It's when they're at the toddler stage that the pet starts to assert themselves.

Hearing them talking about Charlie is painful RIP

This is interesting to hear from this perspective. I work in a neonatal intensive care unit in Halifax. And sadly dads were not allowed at all. In fact, dads who were already there for months had to leave; some of them hours away, because they were transported to us from other, lower level hospitals (in terms of care intensity level capacity and training). Basically the only time dads were allowed was when their baby was dying, we'd give them a ring and tell them to get to the hospital.

SL's story is so similar to mine! Two weeks early, 2+ days of labour. We had to do the incubator thing. Except we were watching playoff hockey and then Hubby fell asleep while I had the epidural and was being flipped like a pancake all night.

My best friend actually skipped the entirety of first grade because he already knew how to read in kindergarten (thanks to his big sister playing school with him every day. no joke). So he was by FAR the youngest in his peer group and he's outperformed them all. Guy is a genius.

I got The New Father after my son was born in August. It is a helpful book but it also gave me so much stress if he wasn't hitting milestones as quickly as it said he should in the book.

Dad's celebrating the birth with their buddies is called Wetting the babies head.
