My son knows I want him to sing at mine also...Somewhere Over The Rainbow! I saw him sing it in the early 70's and he made me tear up when he was singing this! I have been honored to be able to see him 26 concerts and staying at a couple of them when he played two in the same night! My most favorite man in this world...always.

I loved Leon's music and seen him several times. You could always tell he was in when the White Tour Bus was outside. The idea the a such a talent had $600,000 when he died brought me to tears. How could that be? RIP

Les Blank was filming Leon (and a lot of other things) for the documentary, A Poem Is A Naked Person. This video is from that. It's interesting to see film from this era and to see this gifted musician recording in Nashville for his Hank Wilson's Back album. It's well worth seeing.

This is a shortened version of the song which is about 40 seconds longer if you see other video of him performing it. He doesn't play the absolutely beautiful piano break in the song which is sad as possibly one commenter was right, he wasn't feeling well or who knows but leaving that beautiful piano part out of this really makes it not one of his best performances of the classic. Watch the one where he performs it under the Memphis Memories Homewood sessions I believe it's called. Live but not in a concert. Absolutely will take you on his journey after he had dated Rita Coolidge. I too would like to know where this video originated?!?
