Even with the state of her voice, she still can SANG now! It's heartbreaking for sure not only for us fans but even herself, but here she is overcoming adversity and still doing her thing! Very similair issue Bryan Lattrell from BSB has suffered with for years!

For years I never understood why she'd disappeared but reading the various comments I now understand she sort of lost her voice. Her power and tone do sound very different now. She had such an incredible voice before. So sad when this happens

Leona has nothing to prove anymore, she doesn't need to keep popping those high notes. She is actually using more of the vocal runs & soft tones she used before she was on x factor, then signed & became famous.

Leona has such a standout voice, which makes her get compared to her own self. If we never heard hee younger voice, we probably would be accepting of what she sounds like now. Honestly, it breaks my heart to hear the current state of her voice. I hope one day, through lots of vocal therapy, she can reclaim that strength.

This is not BAD. Sure, it's not on the level of power, strength and projection we've heard from her, but she is remaking the song, and singin live, and feeling it! What if she used a track for the high notes or falsettos? THAT would be bad, and disappointing. This is pure. Wish Mariah would approach her classic songs and hits like this, singing them live in the way she can and not lipsync

please be serious.. if mariah sang 100% live with damaged vocals she would get attacked by haters even more than she does now, every singer is different and mariah has health issues too (nodules) so let's not judge how others deal with their illness

Leona Lewis has always been one of my top favorite female singer. I don’t know what happened to her voice but Leona if you’re seeing this, work on your pharyngeal. It’ll help to open up your voice/vowels and not squeeze so much in the throat to avoid even more damage. Sing through your pharynx 😊 Still love you!

I'm a vocal coach...this seems like a psychophysical problem of the nervous system...dysphonia or even dystonia. The muscles in the voice box tense up. You can try to rehab it with voice and breath therapy and mental therapy but it oftentimes can't be remedied completely. It is absolutely NOT a question of bad technique (it could be aggrevated by that but that's not what's happening here). Brian Littrell (Backstreet Boys), Shania Twain and Jon Bon Jovi are further examples of this. I've had my fair share of this as well and it absolutely sucks.

@@Simplenotion Interesting. It's always nice to learn something new! I feel if she sings through yawning techniques it could help with that as well. I know when my voice box tense up I have to go back to the yawn approach and it usually does the trick.

@@JV-jc7ci unfortunately technical aspects only are of little help in lighter cases. Believe me. I'm a, and I'm quoting my voice therapist here, "basically flawless technician that knows everything about technique but the problem isn't about technique at all" - and still can't remedy it fully. It comes and goes based on stress level etc.- it's psycho-neurological. It can even get to the point were you don't feel any control over your muscles. What has helped me tremendously is really trying to find the enjoyment in singing again. This way you don't try to micromanage what you can't and your body oftentimes releases (a bit) as soon as your brain calms down as well.

If she stopped singing for a while that would explain why the sound of her voice has changed. Gladys Knight had stopped singing for a while years ago and when she came back she didn't sound the same. But once she started singing again she got her voice back. If Leona got sick or wasn't singing for a while this could explain why her voice has changed. But if there is one seat left in the lifeboat and it's between her and Taylor Swift, well bye bye Taylor. 💖💖💖😍😍

Does she sound the exact same? No Does her voice sound weaker in the sustainability? Yes… Does she also still sing better than 85% of these new girls y’all love!? ABSOLUTELY! This approach to this song is smart… the subtle Chang he’s in the melody make it easer to sing. Some of these other singers who can’t belt like they used to need to approach their older music like this.

Everything sounds good it's when she starts singing the long sustained notes she sounds nasal. I've noticed she started to sound like this when she dueted on American idol with a contestant. I wonder why this is happening?

Leona Lewis started being nasal in the glassheart era when she got a nose job . But she kinda sounded great in 2012/¹³ . After 2014 she got ill and since then the quality of her voice never Comes back . But she was great in the Cats musical

Maybe she hasn't mastered her technique over the years? I am not shading her, I love Leona Lewis but here in Philippines, we have singers who have been tired for decades singing but still have their voices close to their peak: Regine Velasquez, Lea Salonga, Lani Misalucha. Maybe which is why voice coaches are really serious when it comes to fundamentals?

@@2600BC. but she has seriouse health issues .AS i read its nothing small. U cant compare her with Regine 🤣 Regine has a huge and heavy voice. Leona Lewis voica was always very light. Even Ariana Grande has a havier voice and she is already a very light Singer. Leona s voice is just too fragile to sing all those high belts with health issues.

@@feridedogan7653 I bet you do not know how Regine started her vocal journey, starting from a very thin voice to a powerhouse because of her dad's way of training. Regine said herself in a fan interview that her voice was very fragile but she has developed it over time because of training and practice. Yes health issues can affect singing, as I remember Leona had to look for a doctor to remove something from her throat, but my main point is, has Leona mastered her own technique?

She still has it. I think she should take some time to retrain her voice though, to see what she’s capable of now and know her voice better. I still think she sounds amazing. Very angelic, it’s just her belting she needs to relearn her limits. It sounds like she’s just guessing now on hitting notes and that’s not what singing is about.

Hmmm. I think she lost a lot of confidence in her vocal abilities. It seems like she feels safe just to sing with the background singers. Her airy voice sounds clear as ever, but the belting is very shaky and the higher head voice parts are almost not tackled at all. And yet she is still better than 90% of todays artists. I hope she has a second wind in her for a career resurgance. One of the most beautiful voices ever when in full force IMO

I believe there's been a lot of wear on her vocal cords for such effort during her lifetime Mariah Carey is an example of that. Perhaps the aesthetic procedures in your nose may be one of the reasons for this vocal decline. But, Leona is still amazing.

She shouldn't have had rhinoplasty surgery. It is a no brainer when you sing it is througg your breathing and voice. This is what affected her. I sae her a few ywars agom every song was unrecognisable. Possibly the worst gig I've ever been to.
