My favorite Brazilian from those great mid-late 90s Brazil teams. His goals are nice but it would have been nice to see more skill and passes. That's where he really shined.

Grande Léo, as vezes nós brasileiros lembramos tanto de jogadores de muito talento como Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romário, Rivaldo, etc... e esquecemos de outros cracks que não tiveram muita mídia mas muito futebol também como Leonardo. Esse se deu muito bem e todos os clubes que passou (foi peça fundamental em todos os clubes que passou) e foi muito vitorioso tanto nós clubes quanto na Seleção Brasileira. Saudades desse gigante jogador

Leo era um grandíssimo jogador de futebol. Não acho que ele tenha sido esquecido no Brasil, mas acho é que a carreira dele num todo foi mais "europeia" do que qualquer jogador brasileiro de sua época. Ele é brasileiro mas muito identificado com a Europa, o que se confirma nos trabalhos e cargos que ocupou na pós-aposentadoria. Mas é um orgulho para o Brasil, sim.

LEONARDO Nascimento de Araujo é um ex-futebolista e treinador de futebol brasileiro. Começou sua carreira como lateral-esquerdo no Flamengo, em 1987, mas depois passou a atuar como meio-campista. Entre outros clubes, teve passagens destacáveis pelo São Paulo, Valencia, Paris Saint-Germain e Milan. Na Copa do Mundo de 1994, Leonardo teve a chance de iniciar como titular da lateral-esquerda na seleção brasileira, deixando o experiente Branco no banco. O tetracampeonato foi um dos momentos mais inesquecíveis na carreira de Léo, embora tenha realizado seu último jogo nas oitavas de final, quando foi expulso após uma cotovelada no jogador Tab Ramos, dos Estados Unidos. Voltou a conquistar títulos com a seleção em 1997, quando o Brasil foi campeão da Copa América e da Copa das Confederações. Um ano depois, integrou a equipe brasileira, vice-campeã na Copa do Mundo 1998, realizada na França. Sua última partida pela seleção brasileira aconteceu em 2001, durante as eliminatórias sul-americanas para a Copa do Mundo de 2002.

Sundaland Please Unite He and Branco were left backs of Brazil in 1994. Is important to say that time to be called to National Team usually were necessary to have some experience in National Team or to be consistent for YEARS playing in their respectives clubs. Roberto Carlos already was a fantastic player that time but was only in his Second year in a big club (Palmeiras).That time Leonardo already won almost everything a south American player could Win and Branco would play his third world Cup,so coach Parreira made the right choice.

Década de 90 e 2000 foram de jogadores brasileiros geniais, uma época de muita riqueza no nosso futebol, Renato Gaúcho, Neto, Raí, Mulher, Túlio, Denner, Sávio, Pedrinho, Felipe (do Vasco), Cafú, Palhinha, Evair (o matador do Palmeiras), Viola, Marcelinho Carioca, Bebeto, Edmundo, Ronaldo, Romário, Rivaldo, Giovanni (Ex. Santos e Barcelona), Djalminha, Leonardo, Denilson, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Alex (Ex. Palmeiras e Cruzeiro), Roberto Carlos, Zé Roberto, Kaká, Adriano Imperador, Fred, Robinho, Diego, Juninho Pernambucano, Luíz Fabiano, Ricardo Oliveira, Amoroso, Juninho Paulista, Elano, Luizão, Daniel Alves, Nilmar, Marcelo e Neymar, Ganso começando a carreira em alto nível, dentre outros que esqueci de por aqui. Uma época de muito talento e vontade de jogar futebol. Cada um com suas particularidades, uns não se deram bem na Seleção, outros talvez não tiveram muita chance, mas uma coisa é certa, foi um tempo de um futebol de verdade e de muito jogador de talento.

Remarkable how Cafu came on for the injured Jorginho in 94 and Léonardo for the injured Roberto Carlos. Cafu went on to eclipse Jorginho while Leonardo, though no Carlos, made a name for himself owing to his skills. The world of football has a place for all.

I miss this type of players - the classical „10“ in the 90‘s. This video doesn’t even show his biggest strength - the long passings to the strikers. The fact that he was able to strike by himself was a deadly combination, because the defenders had to attack him and gave room to Ronaldo, Romario, Weah, Chevchenko and all the other great offenders he played with.
