Leopard And Hyena Share A Warthog!! | Rare Wildlife Interaction!

Did two enemies team up to get themselves dinner? Judge for yourself as you watch this rare interaction between a leopard, hyena and warthog.
A normal sighting of the Ravenscourt male leopard turned into this incredible interaction as he spotted a pair of warthog in the long grass. The leopard started to stalk the warthog. Eventually the stalk was successful in that the leopard managed to ambush and grab one of the warthogs. The second warthog reacted to the squeals of the first as the leopard tried to down it. A hyena also reacted to the squealing warthog and the remaining warthog ran off as the leopard continued to try and subdue the first. The hyena's presence caused the leopard to lose concentration and the warthog fought back. The warthog escaped the grip of the leopard and charged at the hyena before running off. The hyena chased the warthog, leaving the leopard to recover his breath. The inured warthog charged the hyena again before expiring. The hyena started to feed on the warthog as the leopard watched from a distance. The leopard started to approach the hyena from behind, perhaps in the hope the hyena would get a surprise and leave the warthog long enough for the leopard to grab back. The hyena ignored the leopard and continued to eat the warthog. The leopard approached to within striking distance of the hyena which moved around the warthog meal slightly. The leopard moved to the warthog and started to feed together with the hyena!
Leopards have been known to take down hyenas, and vice versa. Leopards hardly ever feed together, not even mother and cubs. To see two such enemies feeding together is an incredibly rare sighting!

Wow, incredible. Hyenas get a bad rap but they’re actually highly intelligent & socially complex. The hyena heard something, glanced back, saw the leopard coming and moved aside to make room. She also recognized when the leopard was getting anxious & repeatedly calmed it down with posturing and body language 😲🤯🤯 What an amazing thing to witness, thanks for sharing!!

@sahrac.. Dont let this fool ye, the hyena is only sharing it becouse it knows the leopard would keep attacking it to then grab it and run up a tree. Its clever enough to know its not worth the hassle fighting for it when it would lose the whole meal. Leopards are skilled and fast fighters as well, and it could kill a hyena if its hungry enough, i have seen it before. So i dont get why the leopard just runs away from 1 hyena? Or does it have a plan to run and not get hurt but comes back to kill the hyena? Thats what i saw before, the leopard just jumpend on its back then got a hard bite on the hyenas kneck till it died and the leopard then ate it. Plus they know how to bite the kneck in a position so the hyena cant bite back and most animals too. But it has to be fast and hard with the hyena strait away. If it can pull down a warthog and kill it and there 3 times bigger and heavier than hyenas? Its the hyenas bite thats lethal and thats what alot dont want, as 1 bite can break a tigers leg and a lions. So the hyena did the right thing here but if there was two of them then no one gets in. It just knows if alone a leopard is too fast and clever to take on plus keep the meal, the hyena knows its lost probably every meal it stole from the leopard as the leopard here was playing on the hyenas pure greed at not fully watching what the leopard was going to do, as it kept eating while the leopard would have attacked it hard but its not to fight really its just to get the hyenas greed to come away and try and chase it away so it runs past it. You can see thats what it was going to do here by approaching it slowly as if to say i dont want to fight, but it started growling at the hyena for stealing it and i thought the leo was going to attack it, it was saying ok its game on and you will lose the lot as am faster and can climb even with double my weight, you cant do anything except bite hard. And its amazing how fast they can lift a warthog then just climb up a tree at least 30 feet high. And you can see the rage in the hyena lol as it can only look up to it. A wonder if they know or thinck? "Thats for being too greedy again...when will we learn" lol

In 9/10 encounters between both species, the leopard runs away, and even when they try to attack, the hyena is impervious to their claws, and just shrugs it off.

The hyena is so incredibly clever. It never shows aggression towards the leopard allowing both of them to feed relatively in peace. When the leopard feels a bit threatened and starts growling the hyena ignores him and slightly adjusts the angle of it's body away from the leopard which calms him down. Also it knows his jaws are strong enough to feed on the tougher parts of the warthog so it continues feeding at the chest and upper throat area, allowing the leopard to stay near the belly contently. What an amazing moment.

NO, hyena deserves no respect, they are cowards and steal other predators' work. And what is worst they eat their prey alive as they cannot open their mouth big enough to choke it. Their victims die after 10-15 minutes of being eaten alive.

One of the best videos I've ever seen! Note how the hyena was perfectly happy to move over and show the leopard there was no problem. And every time the cat snarled to show his discomfort the hyena turned his neck to him and continued eating. This is the classic move that most any animal will do to defuse tension. Amazing to see with wild animals!

Well the teeth along with the jaw power of the hyena, which is way more powerful than the leopard. It takes minutes for the hyena to get through the hair and skin where as it takes about an hour for the leopard to break through!

This video never gets old, I keep getting back to it. This is my first comment, I believe the Leopard was nervous and the Hyena was kinda chill because of their different nature, Hyenas are social animals and used to eat together all the time, so sharing a meal is familiar, on the other hand Leopards are solitary and do not share meals with anyone, except a mother and her offspring, and a couple during their mating days.

They were a perfect pair, as the hyena killed the warthhog that the leopard captured. IT would have been trickier for the leopard to kill it himself as it can only choke it but the hyena probably just cracked bones and started feeding which killed the warthhog in shock.

MO MO No, hyenas usually outweigh leopards, are larger and have more devastating bites. It could go either way, but if both really wanted to kill each other, the hyena has the edge

MO MO That means nothing whatsoever. Even leopard and lion encounters are quite rare, yet they no-doubt happen a lot. You just have to look at mannerisms of a hyena and a leopard when they come into contact, the leopard is always wary and the hyena doesn’t really care about the leopard’s presence. This is even after so much time has passed and no other hyenas show up. You’re a leopard fanboy

You can easily tell the Hyena has a strong bite compared to the Leopard. Damn!

@robertomu.. A strong bite. But the hyena wouldnt have taken the warthog down twice with just a strong bite. They dont have the skill and speed and brains a leopard has to take this huge thing down. When the warthog got up again in a last bid to stay alive when going mad the hyena would have lost it as it would have run away, if the hyena did get on top of it the chances are it would have fell off. It wouldnt have got it under control the way the leopard did and fast. No chance. A hard bite isnt always whats needed, the leopards paws are harder and the way it used them was very impressive. To get on top and to then go under it to bite hard on its kneck then suffocate it, a hyena would have lost it and chased it, all the hyena did was watch from a distance then came in once it seen it on the ground. The hyena just killed an already dead animal by ripping open its stomache. Thats all, total scavenger that waited as the hog howled like hell, did that scare the lone hyena? Couse it looked that way to me. And it wasnt for fighting with a leopard that just did all that. It just shared to stay safe and the leopard must have been knackerd. So all ended well, the leopard did the hard work and the scavenger got a bite to eat. But there hated by every animal in the wild.

@@alanmctavish4802 Hyenas are smarter than any big cat and rival chimpanzees in intelligence so you couldn’t be more wrong and the Hyena killed this pig buddy, the Leopard was eating the Pigs chest alive, it got up and ran away and the Hyena was the one who killed it so you’re post is nothing short of delusional btw Hyena has been filmed running down and killing massive adult male wildebeest solo many times on KZfaq, a Leopard had never been filmed killing adult wildebeest so stop the cap

Might have been a blessing for the warthog that the hyena showed up. She/he probably killed the warthog a lot faster than the Leopard. Love the way the Hyena rips the skin off and the chewing of meat/bone crunching sounds. Always makes me hungry. Amazing video capture!

Amazing! The hyena doesn't seem to mind the leopards presence at all, but you can tell the leopard is a bit more cautious. I saw a video of a lioness feeding on a carcass with two hyenas, and that was quite similar. The hyenas didn't seem to care, but the lioness was a bit aggressive. I guess hyenas are just passive animals when it comes to feeding lol.

+EBK 4L actually cheetahs dont climb at all, given that they don't have fully retractable claws, while lions are capable of climbing SOME trees, so you are wrong on both points there.. if +Rob the Ranger was reading this threat, I can guarantee you 100% that he would agree, as I'm sure he's never seen a cheetah hoist his kill up a tree, while I'm also sure he's seen lionesses and sometimes even smaller, younger lions climb a tree to steal a leopard's kill.. you can research it and come to the same conclusion

+EBK 4L actually lions steal just as much as hyenas do. Hyenas will take on lions only if there's at least 4 hyenas -1 lion . They are both formidable predators and both scavengers, depending on the season as the dry season is more plentiful for the predators.

This is way more unusual for the leopard than the hyena. A hyena is used to sharing meals like this with its clan. So sharing while eating is normal for a hyena. However, it is not so normal for a leopard, especially if this is a male leopard. Female leopards share meet with their cubs but that's about it.

That was amazing stuff, to sit at the same table with your enemy, and share a meal is going some. I like the way the Leopard kept telling the Hyena to stay on her side of the kill. The Hyena surprise me, not one sound, she must have thought, the Leopard would eat less than her own kind. Nice, Thanks.
