Let me tell you a story, I am from Himachal (india) a mountainous state in Himalayas, in my village leopard pick up dogs and it's very common if we can't see a dog for more then two days then we know the story, once I was going home at night around 8 o clock, the road was dark but you can see in moonlight and suddenly a leopard came in front of me, I stared at him he stared at me for at least 20 seconds and the best part is we both are scared of each other he jumped in the fields and I go to my house it was just 200 meters away but it felt like 2 km, from that day I don't go from that road if it's dark.

I'm from uttrakhand but live in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh last year there was a news where a man fought and locked up a leopard in his toilet to protect his dog, but not all time wholesome things happen just back in November 2021 a mother lost her child to a leopard attack here

Yeah because here in India cows are very common on streets. We consider cow as our mother because it's a holy animal and provides us with milk. Many people daily worship cows and feed them. This is an act of punya (meaning holy deed).

One interesting story of mine from Uttarakhand 🇮🇳. From my childhood to now, I had many encounters with leopards and tigers but this one is very close. We were three friends coming home, we were all same age 16, the time was around 5:30-6:00 and the month was Oct 2 week. It was a narrow path, Suddenly a tiger jumped over our heads and then invisible in the bushes, time was frozen for 2 seconds. We started running. our home was around 1 km away. We crossed only 400-500 meters, suddenly a tiger appears in front of us ( 30-40meter distance). We had only one option and it was if he attacked us we have to fight(our elders prepared us for those types of conditions) believe me, we were not afraid that time because we know it is our time. We picked up sharp stones and waited for his attack. After 30 sec he jumped into the bushes and ran away. When we reached home we told everyone. Then someone told us she was probably the mother tiger because many people saw her before with cubs. Whenever you are stuck in this type of condition never turn your back. That day God saved us.🙏

these incidence are very common in my State himachal.. we have no dog left in the village.. counterparts if dog kills leapord then the owner is liable to 7 years jail.. leapords didn't spare pet parrots either .. one of remain hidden my neighbours house and torn the steal Cage of parrot and ate it.. and when an old lady saw it she screamed and few people luckily all the sudden gathered and prevented the old lady being attacked.. however leapords are not designed to attack humans but sometimes for their own defence they attack.. I have 3 times experience with leopard.. once in car early in the morning and rest two in wildries of mountains when it grabbed our 🐑 in a minute and went away. it was very frightening.. actually leapord were not earlier here but animal conservationist managed to increase the numbers of leapord and now they are in abundance.

Here in the terai and Darjeeling leopards are often killed if seen in public. However lack/absence of guns makes the 'hunt' a savage one. Imagine hundreds of people armed with swords and heavy sticks looking for a leopard.

My dog was picked in front of my eyes, but then I thought whatever he got food and dog got death end of story, also I encountered leopard 2 times, both times I got scared of him and he got scared of me, we both literally stared at each other for at least 20 seconds, and I am pretty sure we both are thinking so that's it, today is the day I am going to die🤣🤣

In Arizona where I live ,coyotes and owls grab dogs and cats. On the outskirts of Phoenix, you don't see stray dogs and cats. Coyotes are very bold when it comes to grabbing little yapper mutts. Tourists from back east come out here and take their little dogs for a hike in the desert. A coyote will grab the mutt right off the end of the leash. The tourist comes back crying. "My little Fifi was murdered!" "My little Pedro was kidnapped!" Shoulda stayed in New Jersey...

@JarJarBinks A coyote is just like any other species of wild dog: they are the ultimate predator. They will kill and eat anything - including each other if they're hungry enough. The only reason they rarely attack humans is that they've been biologically programmed to avoid our body odor. To a coyote, we stink really bad. But again, if they're hungry enough, and you're lost in the desert with a broken leg and no water, they might not wait until you're all the way dead, if you know what I mean...

It’s just that we humans have occupied the forest for us that leaves no choice for wild animals to hunt down domestic pets. Large number of these cases occurs in hills of nepal india , basically leopard are found in hilly region.
