Leprechaun Canyon is just south of Hanksville, Utah just off the highway mile marker 28. The right fork is for non- technical hikers. There is also an option to repel in from higher up the trail. This is an easy, family fun trail with a short slot canyon. As with any slot canyon, STAY OUT IF IT LOOKS LIKE RAIN ANYWHERE IN THE SURROUNDING AREA!

I appreciate this review as I am looking for some short hikes into slot canyons with my dogs... Question, I noticed you doing some rock scrambling over a small boulder. Is that at the entry, or is that farther in? Trying to figure out what dog lifting I will have to do! Thanks,

That Boulder is in a side slot to explore, not the main trail. Your dogs will make the main trail just fine.

There is not a sign marking the trailhead here. Its 28 miles south of Hanksville. Google Maps can help you. There is signage for Little Wild Horse Canyon which is near Goblin Valley, also in the area.

@@2utahhikers Thanks for responding! Another question...we are limited in some of what we can do. I have noticed in some videos in Leprechaun that some people look like they are walking across slickrock to get to what I'm gonna call the big room that eventually leads into the dark area. Does that sound about right and if so, is it possible for you to describe that route to me? TIA!

@@marktrishlester4846 the trail starts out in sand and is flat, then you scramble up a short section of slickrock or wind your way through a small tight slot, both ways will take you into the canyon. It's flat slickrock from there, very easy to navigate to the narrow slot at the end.
