I remember listing to this tune in 1955 on late night late night show.. My dad was in the Army at Arlington Hall VA and mom worked as a waitress in Annandale VA .. I stayed up late waiting for her to come home one night.. I watched the Late Show and the music .. until she came home.. when she did we would count the change she got for tips she got as a waitress.. I remember dad came out for the bed room asking why I was up.. I told him I missed mom.. he smiled and went back to bed.. Good memories of a good time..

This happy tune has been bouncing between my ears for 50+ years! Finally was able to ID the title and composer! Love it!

This brings me back to my childhood in the 50's. This was the theme for the late show movie at 11:00 pm. All on a small black and white TV screen.

Good one, John. I also (b. 1957) recall it fondly as the theme for “The Late Show” (from those rare nights when my parents would let me stay up late)Those were the days…pre-cable or satellite! Cheers..JT

@@jerrera45 Thanks, John. As you know, Leroy Anderson also composed the holiday classic, “Sleigh Ride.” That plus The Syncopated Clock on their own should cement his place in the Hall of Fame of American Composers! Thanks for sharing your memories. Kind wishes…Jim Tierney…Toledo, OH

This song was played for the late movie (after the news) circa 1964 and beyond in New Jersey - and my parents and grandparents had to make sure to turn down the TV volume or it would wake me up every night!!!!!

I would stay up for the late late show just to hear this tune.

I heard this music in Chicago. It was the theme for the late show movie openings on Fridays and Saturday nights.

OMG! I grew up in Syracuse NY, and at least one TV station there did the exact same thing!

Hey Chicago and Syracuse…same for me. I grew up in central New Jersey, within range of NYC stations. I can’t hear this piece without associating it, fondly, with that fine programming (pre-cable or satellite!). Those were the days! Cheers

I am 9 and I love lots of music. Mostly classical/romantic. I don't know what this is, but I love this for a change!

He's left handed and always directed this way. I already told him that it's not usual but it's hard to change. The orchestra is now used to his way to conduct.

I am 8 years old and I'm playing this in my cello group. I really liked your performance. I loved the toy telephone! You were awesome!!!

Did the percussionist good at all 1:50? I wouldn’t know but it sounded off in that beat.

I'm sure that's the way it was written. I played in a jazz band in college, we practiced constantly. He would have never made a "mistake" like that.
