The way most pronunciations of the alphabet come through the nose. R's peculiar pronunciation. The softness of the lyrics. So, I was in the car with a friend just last night, and this came on the speakers (from his wedding playlist, of all things). I thought I recognized it, so after getting home I just looked up 'Champs Elysees song'... turns out this was the song we learned to sing in Year 5 (9-10 years old) on the school trip to Normandy from the UK. My teacher used to play this in the French lab when I was in high school. I was taking Spanish. I haven't heard it for almost 50 years! I was so excited to hear it on the commercial, because no one ever knew what I was talking about. I do need to see the words in French, so I can see how badly I messed them up when we were trying to sing along back then. For example, I thought it was "Oh, shanze a lee-zay." (I had since learned it was Champs-Elysees.)
