It's Lesbian Visibility Day (and Week!) so I wanted to make a compilation of lesbian characters being funny because hey, we're awesome! Not all of the humour directly relates to lesbianism, although most centres around sapphic love and identity, but all the clips are scenes I thought were funny. Enjoy!
Disclaimers:
- Not every single character who appears in this video is a lesbian (for example, Luz Noceda, Piper Chapman, Sterling Wesley and Waverly Earp are all bi). But the characters who are the focus of each of the humour clips are all either:
a) canon lesbians on-screen (e.g. Santana Lopez, Alex Vause, Laura Hollis)
b) canonically confirmed as lesbian by the creator/s (e.g. Catra and Adora, Janai and Amaya)
c) heavily implied to be lesbians, either in the show or by the creator/s (e.g. Vi and Caitlyn, Cal and Juliette, Nomi and Amanita)
d) canon sapphics popularly viewed as lesbians and without another confirmed sexuality (e.g. Kit and Jade).
- Some of the audio may vary in volume due to the different shows and formats, although I tried my best to adjust it. There are subtitles for anyone who has trouble hearing any of it!
- The translations of Amaya's sign language are how I've seen it translated by others, or in the show's official subtitles, so hopefully it's all correct! It's also subtitled, as well as being included in the text in the video :)
- Syd from ODAAT (at 01:44) is not a girl, they're non-binary, so please don't misgender them in the comments! They are canonically a lesbian, however :)
- This is far from every lesbian character or funny lesbian moment on TV. I'm sorry if your fave isn't here, but please don't comment 'where is [character/show]?'. Recommendations are welcome, but if it's not here, I either haven't seen it, forgot it, or couldn't fit it in, so please refrain from asking that, ty :)
