There’s a word we used to use for music like this: HEAVY. I saw Frampton when he was with Humble Pie, they were the opening act for Grand Funk Railroad. My first concert.

West had booming vocals and this was one of the very best rock songs of the 70s. If you watch Frampton closely his body language and movements are just like they were in the 70s. Gotta love two "old" rockers jamming together. There is no age limit on having fun!

Yes, we are getting old. We just have to sit down and play nowdays. It's better than ever now, but nobody really shows up for the small one hour shows anymore..or even know who we are. It's ok though. We were the seeds of the rock tree. And our doctors told us to quit drinking so much. Oh well. Maybe one less bottle of Jack Daniels.

I took my moms new lincoln, 2 hrs drive, to take my new strawberry blond girlfriend I met at the beach, to see Mountain at Duke 1970. I was 16, she was 15. She hated it immediatly and wanted to leave, as I didnt know she was into country , but made her stay anyway. I got her home about 1 am , her dad was in the yard with his shotgun, but she told him I was OK.. Our first, and last date. Mountain killed

@@drmidnight680-kz2le But there certainly are some differences between a Strat and a Les Paul. There's an interview with Ed King somewhere on youtube where he talks about his Stat sound contrasting with yet complimenting the "dirty" sound of the Les Pauls played by the others in Skynyrd. Someone once told me anyone can be a rock and roll star if they just take ten minutes to learn how to play the "E" rock and roll scale really loud on a Les Paul. You can take that one for what's it worth!

It doesn't need to be stated what a Tone God and Riff Monster Leslie is. It does need stating that Peter Frampton is going toe-to-toe with the great man here. Whatever offences Frampton is guilty of ("I'm In You," "Sgt. Peppers," etc.) leave us not forget that he was the lead player on "Rockin' The Fillmore," one of the mightiest live albums ever! That little fact absolves him of any and all crimes committed in the past.

Great jam on an epic tune. That said, West's introduction one of the greatest and funniest( he would have been a great stand up comic in addition to legendary guitar player) and Frampton's punchline has professionals far and wide clapping and hooting it up. Ta da.
