I came across this site as I continue to practice and there sitting in the foreground was one of Mr. Urbans guitars that had been offered in a package. "The Player". To make a short story long, I lost the tip of my middle fret finger as well as my fret index finger some 25 years ago. Two years ago my wife surprised me with a traveling Martin Backpacker guitar to try. I was watching a Willie Nelson documentary when he was asked who was his inspiration? He replied Django Rhinehart. Because he played on two fingers. And at five years old Willie decided if Django could play that good on two fingers surely he could play on five. So I took up guitar again and it has become a constant daily passion for the last two years. This little Martin for hanging outside and at the beach has been fantastic. But back to Urbans "Player". So last week a lady friend of my wife's came over for dinner. I didn't know she had Leukemia. Had lost her spouse to Breast Cancer a few months ago. And my wife had told her I was back into playing again and very focused and serious. That playing again had inspired me. Changed me.. And her friend had given up guitar herself for a long time due to caring for her spouse. And was ready to get inspired again after hearing my wife tell my story. She then came into my living room and said she had a gift for me. One that was to be willed to me. But she decided better to give it to me in person and to talk guitar and to play with me helping her to get back into it herself. And she walked in with the complete Urban, Player guitar package with amp, and 30 DVD package she had purchased sometime back for herself. A gift. I was speechless. Original strings had been on it since purchased and it had never been played so I changed out the strings and she and I played around. A beautiful guitar. I really was drawn to the bass notes. A very special guitar from a very gracious woman who has dealt with great hardships and continues to persevere with her own now. Im headed to see her next week to change out her strings on her Alvarez and to assist her in anyway I can. But thank you for creating such a nice guitar. Beautiful detail and rich sound. The Martin Silken Bronze strings I fitted it with really brought out the deep tones. Im impressed and inspired even more. And thanks for honoring Mr. Bill Withers. A great one for sure.

I Love Keith's music always have he's one of the last true country singers / songwriters and after God's grace we need a little music to help our hearts. I've lived in our county all my life never been a celebrity seeker . I've never cared about that like most true Nashville folks don' t either its our heritage . Thanks for the encouragement. God Bless the Urban family

Strumming pattern?
@katiehansen59317 жыл бұрын
Can someone tell me the sturuming pattern?
@scottfontoura54837 жыл бұрын
I second this, great tutorial but not sure about the strumming pattern. I'm a beginner myself but for the intro he seems to strum an open string on the 'A' string followed by 1 strum of Am, Em then G. He goes through this twice then finishes on 1 strum of Am without the open string. You pause for a count of 3 then you come back when he sings 'she' of There's no warmth when 'SHE'S away, repeat the pattern I gave you once then after that I'm lost just like you are. I hope that helps with the intro at least. If you find out the rest of the pattern please let me know. Another guy on KZfaq suggests down-down down up - up down - down up down, for the verse but I can't get it to fit in with this particular tutorial, which I prefer but that might just be because I'm not very good. Confusing I know, but I hope this helped a little.
@katiehansen59317 жыл бұрын
Scott Fontoura thank you I will give this a try I'm not sure why he didn't give us the strumming pattern
@katiehansen59317 жыл бұрын
Scott Fontoura it's just difficult because I don't like all the other guitar tatorils on this song that are on KZfaq so I'm really trying to figure out how keith does it and sorry I can't spell for shit 😂
@jasonjewell63997 жыл бұрын
I have planned for 19 years and my best advice is these things.Work on the timing and focus on using your ear and not being perfect. Once you have it down with now issues at all then you can. Look up other videos to see other ways to play the song. Look up tabs to see strumming patterns.Via google Tabster tabcrawler etc.Also you can slow the video down and look at his hands to see slowly what he is doing. Hope some of this helps ya.
