Hinata's Brazil arc is without doubt my favourite training arc of all time. Haikyuu is packed to the brim with inspiring stories, and this arc is perhaps the most moving of all. From the end of Karasuno vs Kamomedai, where Takeda told him "This is still Volleyball", to his graduation and then moving to Brazil to practice beach volleyball, Hinata went on a crazy journey, which we'll discuss today.
Hinata's trip to Brazil didnt start the way he hoped, his roommate ignored him, the sand took away his jumping power... and yet he continued on.
After a particularly awful day, where he had his wallet stolen he becomes overwhelmed by homesickness. But it's here he remembers Takeda's words, "He who would climb the ladder, must start at the bottom". Said to him during the ball boy arc, a reminder of his need to work his way up. But more importantly, to take care of himself. After collapsing halfway through the Kamomedai match, and being told by Hoshiumi to "play him again", he goes on a whole new path. One where he prioritises taking care of himself. Lifting weights, meditating, eating good food. All things we should do ourselves.
After meeting up with Oikawa, and playing matches of beach volleyball together, including the final of a tournament, Hinata heads home and joins the MSBY Black Jackacls, where they play the Schweiden Adlers, featuring Kageyama, Ushiwaka, Hoshiumi and more.
Hinata kicks off the match with a reverse tempo set with teammate Miya Atsumu, resulting in his iconic "I'm here"! line. And as the match continutes, "Ninja Shoyo" takes over the court. Being able to fight against a world-class ace like Romero, recieving even Ushiwaka's hate filled spike, and showing himself to be a secret setter. But most importantly, at the very end, he manages to beat Kageyama. Showing that everything that happened this whole time, was "Still volleyball".

takeda is such a wonderful character. he always has these beautiful wisdom poems to give the players but it doesn't feel forced bc not only is he a japanese literature teacher, but that's also the kind of adult he is, one who's taken his life experience and used it to help others to grow. i love his role in hinata's development, and he has one of my favorite lines in the show-- he who climbs the ladder must begin at the bottom. as a person who went through teenage years & early adulthood as a hq fan, takeda has been one of the most impactful characters for me

When thinking of Haikyuu, despite it feeling like every major character is an essay of the beauty of humanity's flaws and strengths, somehow, every lesson, every theme, every journey, all comes back to Shoyo Hinata.

"This is still Volleyball", I've always loved that line. Now thinking about it, it's so profound. It's become popular in our culture to romanticize passions. With quotes like "if you find something you love, you won't work a day in your life". But this blatantly ignores that more often than not, you'll need to do things that you won't like to do (at least at the start) while pursuing that passion, and those things, they're still volleyball (or whatever you're pursuing). And this also relates, to the faith Hinata had while training in seemingly unrelated things. It's important to note, that Hinata did a lot of research/learning before he decides what he needs to do (and can have faith in). Once decided, he had faith that no matter what anyone else is doing, no matter how much he's struggling right now, he must keep doing it, as "This is still volleyball". Just masterful. I fucking love Haikyuu.

I really like the quote of kageyama's grandpa "no one understands what is and is not important to you better than you do" when he was talking to his granddaughter about how she quit volleyball because she didn't want to cut her hair. It was seemingly silly reason at first glance but later we find out that she became a hairdresser possibly BECAUSE she took an interest in hair and taking care of it. So it really shows how things can change in the future and how some actions that could be Seen as questionable at the time, show their impact later in life. Great video, keep up the good work!

the brazil arc is exactly the thesis of haikyuu; every little things hinata did in his traning and everyday activities accumulated to build the player he is. Takeda's speech to Hinata in the last game is also what sets apart and exceeded my other all-time favorite Sports anime - Slam Dunk; without spoiling the last game in Slam Dunk, I think Haikyuu is written for professional athletes which emphasizes everyday habits are as important as performance on the field; Slam Dunk encourages average teenagers to get up and do something with their lives and utilize every moment you have as youth to shine.

The Brazil arc is by far my favourite arc of the entire manga and, likewise, favourite training arc of all time. It's just so inspirational and emotional, I love that my two favourite charas of the series are there: Hinata and Oikawa. I loved seeing them playing together!! And the final match against Kageyama and co. was pure adrenaline, Hinata was superb and the story had a perfect ending!

IDK if I would call it the best one for me personally, but I think it's absolutely up there in the top 3. I would probably have Slam Dunk at first place (that last match in Slam Dunk is probably the single greatest thing out of any sports manga/anime), and then Haikyuu and FMAB up there as well.

It genuinely has a strong case imho. It's profound, sophisticated, recontextualizes a lot of important things in the series and, beautifully ties together all the different story and- character plot lines and, most importantly, delivered absolutely incredible payoffs. Actually 10/10 ending arc.

Ive watched this about a million times already, I watch it when I stretch, eat, and even draw. Everytime I watch it, it gives me a different impression on how I do things and not be so lazy everyday. This video also made me change my daily routine to not be so spuratic. After all one quote in Haikyuu is, "sometimes the hard path is easier" or, something along those lines.

To me, Haikyu!! is the perfect blend of concepts. It's enjoyable and entertaining, to the point you can shut your brain off and have a good time watching a few absolute goofballs playing a sport they like playing. But it also features a ton of profound, sophisticated, and meaningful themes and lessons, to the point where you can genuinely find comfort, motivation and growth if you are looking for it.

I finished the manga TODAY, and I'm still very sensitive about it, but I had to come here to watch this video!! Firstly, as a Brazilian myself I'm honored to have THE Hinata Shoyo in my country! 🙇🏻‍♀️ But seriously this arc was just a delight to read. I was so proud of Hinata for (literally) going so far to learn in a whole new way how to become a better volleyball player. And seeing that boy that once was so eager and impulsive to be at the top, actually discipline himself and refine his skills made me so emotional. I really love this arc so much and the cherry on top was definitely Oikawa and their whole interaction and how that was beneficial for both of them. And i love how it all ties to the final match between BJ vs Adlers and it shows just how much our protagonist has grown, along with the rest of the characters we love so much! I'll be eagerly waiting for a video on this match, pls!! And thanks for another great video!!! 🤧🙏

There are going to be dark moments. But if u remember the people that have supported u on the journey and are consistently trying, evolving and adapting when pursuing ur dream, it will be worth it !! Wherever u end up , enjoy the journey and be open minded to try new things and never be ashamed to ask for help ! Truly my favourite arc. It’s not about the destination , it’s the journey !

The whole kamomedai, brazil arc and msby match always was a comfort for me! Its proof that what you do, decide and strive for will come to you. As always, as Kita says. We are built on what we do everyday, and our consistency, routine. It wont always be okay, Hinata knows it, I know it. Its really just securing yourself, that “you did the work, you’re doing it” its just sometimes. We just gotta take the knee, and get up fast. If that makes sense.. thanks for the video! Man, I couldn’t say how happy am I to stumbled on your channel. Great stuff! I started playing volleyball for about four months already. And I have to say that it completely changed myself. The way I trained, eat, and rest. I always looked up to Hinata for his hardworking towards his goals. It has been such a hard time for me, especially when I did not reach my performing standards. But I know if I keep doing it, if I keep showing up to the court, doing practices, failed over again and again, I’ll definitely get better! You just don’t know what life will bring you when you’re feeling that you make zero progress or you didn’t make it anywhere, but you still choose to fight and not giving up no matter what.

I never knew I will get this emotional just because of an character/arc essay/analysis video about Haikyuu. I never even watch or have plan to watch Haikyuu until last year. It was one of the only free anime on the app where I was watching (I watch different genre). Volleyball is one of my least favorite sports even though I played it a lot when I was in elementary. My friends and even a cousin of mine kept trying to convince me to watch Haikyuu but I kept invading it and always makes excuses that I only watch it if the anime or the manga was done. And now, even there's other more famous anime such as JJK, BNHA, etc. Haikyuu is now my favorite anime of all time (before was first Death Note and then D Gray Man). The character development, and how the characters are realistic than other sports anime I watch (with powers or whatnots). I really love your thoughts (the first video of yours I watched was Sugawara's and we have the same thought about him, it also made me cry, also Tsukki's 😂)

after reading haikyuu, what im conviced is the greatest sports anime of all time and one of the goats shonen or anime for that matter I had to read the other greatest sports anime of all time, slam dunk. What surprised me is how much the series mirrors each other and how furudate almost acknowledges the other, paying homage to what must be the shoulders of a pillar of the world his story is making its mark on top of and with but almost subverts the expectations left by it. The dynamic between hinata and kageyama, the relationship with the coaches, their run to win every single game so they can reach the top/grand finals. But with what inoue made in a hoosiers like story, the underdogs winning and beating the odds, furudate offers somehow a more realistic and even more satisfying ending that still reflects the conceit of the show he had been not so subtly hiding throughout the story. Slam dunk is the fantasy underdog story manga readers attach to because they too want to know what its like to try, to overcome and to win at an endeavor or sport they set their heart onto. Haikyuu offers the real life look at what that actually is like for ppl who go down that route and through the avatars of kageyama and hinata become professional athletes. There are hardcore laws that haikyuu revolves around, the better team, the players who put the most time and did the most careful and thoughtful preparation get to advance, it doesnt matter how much you cry or wish it was you winning, the stronger and luckier players win. Its almost like hes addressing the finale of slam dunk at how ridiculous it is through hinatas spring tournament run. When hinata gets sick and cannot go on a good coach wouldnt keep him playing just so they could win one highschool tournament like slam dunks does, the goals of the characters are bigger and more long term than that. The protagonists you watch struggle succeed and fail in the world of highschool volleyball learn the importance of time, practice, dedication and health. Through that some of them become pros yes, but the main conceit of the show was to exemplify how embracing the hard goals that the cruel world of sports has to offer can leave you with lessons to let you succeed in any field you set your mind to and want to do.

Damn, hell of a great video! While I know most of us aren't volleyball players, nevertheless pro-athletes, this video is easily relatable to many who are trying to find their place in life. All the days of feeling lost and not knowing about the future, this is still part of Life. This is still a part getting to the future of where you want to be and what you want to do. Everything, no matter how happy or tragic, that you've experienced will be how you get to the future of your dreams. Thanks for the reminder. Came in a near perfect time in my life. Your videos are amazing, thank you for bringing hope and positivity to all of us!
