I for one am glad for the spoiler section. I read the manga up until the final match of Hinata and Kageyama and totally lost interest, the pacing and story felt super fast paced and boring, like the author was trying to end it and end it quick. Little did I know it had a much more fulfilling end.

I think one of Tanaka's main selling points is his relatability. We all had bad moments and felt average or inferior to others seemingly more capable at something. He has that self-awareness of when he's doing good and bad and says his thoughts aloud. He's also inspiring because he's his own hype man. Lets all be our best selves by being our own best hype men! We can do it!

The movie felt like a real game does. Karasuno and Nekoma only had this one game in their constallation and if you are on the court for real time flies by - just like the game did. Especially season 3 and 4.2 had very drawn out games - which I enjoyed a lot don't get me wrong - but intetional or not I could really connect with the movie because of it's length not as an anime fan but as a Volleyball player. We once had 2 matches in a row, each went into the fifth set and some of us had no substitues - Kenmas exhaustion and POV at the end of the movie felt so incredibly relatable. More often than not, games you enjoy are over before you even realize. I get that a lot of people wanted more content out of the manga than just a short movie - I really get that - but the movie was still super funny, casual with the "slice of life" scenes and well animated.

Im sorry it's not a character from Haikyuu but it's the MC from Black Clover : Asta. He is really like Deku but better (i like deku, don't wanna judge) in my opinion. Maybe it's because of the world setup where he lives compared to Deku. Anyway, Asta really helped me starting realise that you are the one to decide if you will achieve your dream or not. You ca do it if you actually use 100% of your strenght. Thanks for the video!

12:57 I feel like oikawa didn't look sad in this scene, much the opposite actually, with all his envy and hunger for the strength he didn't have, came respect, a fearful respect to people like ushijima and tobio, he did feel inferior to them but didn't feel sad about it, he didn't feel like he didn't have the luxury of going easy, he just respects them enough to know he need to go all out, volley, the sport he loves with a passion isn't one we're you can win if you don't give it your all, so if ushijima and all other geniuses are competing, proving that the humans can win too was the only thing on oikawas mind "I know" doesn't mean "I know I can't slack and play it easy" "I know" means "I know smashing this ball is the only way of proving I'm strong too, that humans can win against the monsters"

THIS IS GOLD. I have just recently started rewatching haikyuu, with a new pair of eyes. I found myself enjoying greatly oikawa's character. What i had missed on the first and second time, focusing on karasuno, blinded me to what i then realized was the best character development, and you did a 30m analysis on everything I've been processing this las week. Thank you

I loved the video but I do want to interject that you don't need the number 1 on your jersey to be labeled captain. It's the underscore under the number that indicates the captain on the team

The world needs people who make videos like u. I'm sure there r many like me who hear all kinds of motivation speaking stuff but they just dont make sense. For whatever reason only God would know Anime can help to make sense to it. Somehow it goes deeper into the brain especially through video essay like this. So thank you.

I relate so heavily to characters like Sugawara and Tsukishima, seeing people better than me, younger or smaller, and doubting my own skills because of it. "How are they so much better than me?" "What do they have that I don't?" Seeing the character development of suga really put my own doubts into perspective. He's sidelined constantly because Kageyama is just a better setter. Yet even when he's on the bench, he's not useless. Players constantly go to him for advice on the best strategy to use and what to do when they're down on their luck. They respect Suga, even if he isn't the "best". Sugawara has been my role model for as long as I can remember, his reliance, strategic eye and ability to, even when he's not playing, be one of the most useful players to the court are so admirable for a character that, if it wasn't Sugawara, would just wallow in pity and self-doubt about not being the better setter.

The more I let the movie sink in the more disappointed I become. Most of the characters didn't get the chance to be characters but only plot devices at most. The story was rushed and the match interuppted with backstory too many times.

In this fast paced modern society, we feel the pressure to move quickly. Just like Kita feeling peer pressure in the elite team Inarizaki. If he compares his ability with star players, he will be anxious and unconfident. However, he knows his worth. He knows he is detail minded, caring and disciplined. He knows what it takes to be a leader, the pillar of the team on court and off court. He doesn't have to be the best player on the team. He doesn't have to concern where will excellence lead him like Tsukishima worried about. He doesn't view volleyball as a life goal like other elite players. He doesn't even care about winning or losing. The simplest way of living is to realize your unique edge. The realization may come really late and takes luck to be discovered. Like how Kita did not get to play on court, remained unrecognized, until the coach of Inarizaki saw his unique talent. Not all of us are lucky to be appreciated by a wise man who sees potential outside of conventional standards (compare Inarizaki coach with Washijo). But as we gain more life experience, with thoughtfulness and discipline, we will soon see how much we've grown and realize our unique edge in this world. There's no need to fit a person into one set of standards. There's no need to always be on the front lines. Keep moving, keep growing, at your own pace, in your own terms.

... Someone once asked me, "Do you ever feel bitter over the fact that you're not a regular on the team, and amongst your juniors there's a genius to boot?" I never understood the exact definition of what it was to be a genius to begin with but upon hearing the question, I understood the general gist of what they were getting at. Every so often there will be someone who thinks that "people like Atsumu" were "good" from the get-go. But the thing is, if I practiced something from 1-10 every day, then people like Atsumu would have done it from 1-20. Or, they would have done the same 10 but in a more efficient or concentrated manner. They might also ask "instead of doing it 1-10, how about I tried it from A-Z, what would happen then? Now doesn't that sound interesting?" They're the kind of people who think about stuff like that. Even if they fail, even if they are hated and get ostracised by others, no matter whether they're right or they're wrong, even if they subvert something the rest of us hold in high regard, they're the kind of people who can't sit still without giving it a go. Even if they start coughing up blood from their lungs, they're the kind of people who want to keep on running, no matter what. There's going to be a lot of people in this world who make you go 'wow, I'll never be able to defeat them', and it's only natural that you think they're amazing people. I think that to be able to keep charging ahead is a talent in and of itself. You can call people like them whatever you like, the term "genius" isn't exactly an insult. That said, to think that they were "good from the get go", is to condemn yourself to a predetermined defeat without even playing in a match against them, and I also think it's very rude. ... I know you didn't really mean it that way, sorry for getting all serious about it. "... No. In this case, it's totally my bad for saying something so thoughtless. I still do think though, that monsters truly exist..." ... Yeah, yer right, I think so too. The kind of monsters who love volleyball day after day. We meet them, stand on the same court as them, and battle agains them with a net between us. I'm like a mortal who's stumbled upon a monster's banquet. Lucky me. - Kita, Shinsuke
