In this episode you will see me take a 10" layer cake and stack it, whack it, sew it and press it to create an interesting quilt top of coordinating fabrics.

I, too, have turned a block accidentally and sewn a piece on the wrong edge. As we see in your beautiful quilt top here they have earned the nickname "happy mistakes". And I most respectfully must say ... you are getting really good at making these quilting videos! Thank you for these.

I really love this tutorial! Can't wait to give it a try. Thank you for sharing! Keep them comin,. I am getting so many ideas from you! 😃 BTW: I have no idea why other quilters feel the need to criticize... they always have the option to turn off a video keeping their thoughts to themselves. I do wish they would. Just sayin. 😬

I was making a controlled colour scrap quilt. Put blocks on the floor knew something was wrong couldn't figure it out. Finished it washed it when it was on the clothes line I saw the mistake.I had put nearly all the gold/orange blocks in one quadrant. All I could do was laugh.🤣

Hi, first time quilter here. Thank you for making a clear easy to understand tutorial. I did a smaller version with 5 patterns 20 blocks. Do I resquare after sewing and pressing? Also I have been trying to figure out a layout where like patterns don't touch. I've got it a few times but the bottom row always has touching. I have some material left for I just add a few more blocks?
@lessonslearnt5966
@lessonslearnt5966 2 жыл бұрын
You can square each block up after pressing on this particular layout, but not on all. Usually a pattern will tell you whether to square up or not. I personally didn’t square up my blocks. As for the touching, you could make another row like you said, the more rows you have the less likely you have some that touch. Or, you could stack and whack a third time to give more layout options.
@shellilaplante6700
@shellilaplante6700 2 жыл бұрын
@@lessonslearnt5966 I'm laughing at myself. I had bought the pre-cuts to eliminate cutting time. And it turns out that the pre-cuts were not cut evenly they bow out towards the center so I do have to square them up otherwise my eyes go wonky 😆. I thought about stacking and walking a third time. I might do it. The debate is on 😆
@shellilaplante6700
@shellilaplante6700 2 жыл бұрын
Ok, in the process of squaring off I discovered 3 blocks that were a little short . So I am going to try a lay out with what is sized up. Then I will estimate how many new blocks I need/can make. And I might stack and wack those a third time while including the 5th pattern. And then remix. My other thought was a few whole squares with a heart applique in the center. This is a fun unexpected puzzle! Thanks for getting me excited about this fun quilt.
